Selmer neck comparison on a (my) Selmer Mark VII tenor: Serie III, Reference 54, Reference 36 and a late MkVI neck.
Mouthpiece: Navarro BBS, tip 8
A small comment on each neck:
Serie III: Versatile, warm, power if wanted
Ref 54: Quite focused, easy to push
Ref 36: Broadest, full, even
MkVI: Great response and tone palette, versatile.
All necks worked great on this horn, but with different qualities! :-)

I agree the Reference 54 neck sounded great!!! The Mark VI neck sounded equally good.

Nice comparison. The 54 sounds nice and the Mark VI sounds like it’s a bit congested. The Mark VII sounds terrific overall - nice playing on all

Unfortunally, I did not have it nearby when I recorded the video. The mkVII neck is fine, full sound, but I prefer the angle (lower arch) on the other necks. I now play the ref54 neck. It has the projection and sound I am looking for, and intonates well!
Sound is one aspect but intonation especially in the palm keys needs checking nice video .

Good point. The mk6 and the 54 is my favourites, but ended up with the 54 as it had better intonation overall.

@@stefantjerngren nice to have that choice. I play a Series 2 now but had a 90xxx mk 6 alto for many years .
