    You know, I’d like to agree with you here but, unfortunately, just a few weeks ago Rainelle Jones was called “a piece of trash” at Nebraska for kneeling during the anthem. Absolutely egregious behavior; thankfully, Stivrens and the other girls appeared to apologize and show their embarrassment. Cook offered a halfhearted apology to the press. Nice that they acknowledged it at all but there should have been a total and utter condemnation of the incident.

    With all respect Texas lost this match because of the attitudes from the players, there's no chemistry compared to last year's team. And passing weakened when Obrien left. Big arms and good passing wins but also attitude and sportsmanship, and that is why Nebraska won along with their strong defense.

    Nebraska tightened up and got significantly better in the past few weeks. They were out of sorts in the beginning of the season but overjoyed to see them upset Texas. Must've been sweet for Lexi Sun who started her career here in Texas. Washington almost had them but recovered, Nebraska took notes and improved on that working formula that almost killed Texas. We didn't block well, the middles had a lousy game, and Hames' choice of sets was often bad, which is partial blame to why Maddie had such a horrible night, but only partly. Serving Aces NU-9 UT-6

    @@joebaumann6646 She said herself she wasn't consistent in placement and her hitters bailed her out a lot. Madi had several sets from Hames in system in which were outside the pin and she had to play back in. Caffey had a few sets too low or too slow that left her in a hard spot, sometimes getting blocked and others just not hitting a formidable ball. Stivrins got blocked on the slide because she had nowhere to go with it as the set took her too far outside and too tight to the net forcing her to play line when none was available. Lindsay had a couple that were too tight to the net. These are not uncommon issues throughout the season, they were just better dealt with in the Texas match, some of which was Hames just not going to her MBs for offense much.

    Parra's too short to play front row in 6 rotation like Kubik does for Nebraska. She could be out there on all 6 rotations if she takes over the libero position. However, she would not be able to attack. I see some talent at the service line though, so Parra is probably better used as a defensive specialist.

    @@janmedcalf7634 there are many who would say that if Orr hadn't injured herself last yr, requiring knee surgery, Orr would have been the favorite to winning the setting job this year. It was evident she wasn't in shape enough to handle 3 matches over 2 days at the beginning of the season, and so Hames kept the starting role. Orr is a more dynamic setter, who is use to setting a higher tempo and middles, with the added bonus of being 6'-6'1" & the international Setter for Ally, Lindsay, Rylee, Lexi R, & the MB recruit coming in next year Maggie Mendelson. These ladies have been playing together for a few years now on the international team which made history 2 yrs ago capturing gold for the first time in history, so that familiarity is already established. She doesn't dig as well as Hames, but her size enables her to better defend the net & improve overpass balls, not to mention attacking.

    If you are going to play soft teams as a mainstay, you're going to get beat a lot when the stress and challenge require you to take your game up a few notches. Texas will be bettered by moving to the SEC, but not greatly as UK is about the only high talent team as Florida has fallen off lately. They should demand their conference play is front loaded so they can schedule tough teams in Nov to prep them for tourni time. This would be good for all of the Big12 & SEC. They would find they perform better having been tested late in the season on a regular basis. This isn't new info, just unresolved issues that keep creeping up in BIG12 & SEC...we will see if it holds true for ACC as well or have they put together enough great teams within their conference to make a run up conditioning for tourni time?

  • @timmeyer9191

    @timmeyer9191

    2 жыл бұрын

    Idk. I think the SEC is a stronger VB conference than the Big 12. Besides Kentucky, there's still Mary Wiese's Florida who is a regular NCAA team. Plus Kayla Banwarth (the former Nebraska assistant) took Ole Miss from being one of the VB doormats to a tournament team in two years. Kayla was the one who saw Lexi Rodriguez's potential and insisted that Nebraska sign her immediately. Is the SEC as strong as the Big Ten or Pac 12 in VB? No, but the difference is getting smaller.

  • @robertevans2450

    @robertevans2450

    @@timmeyer9191 maybe, maybe not...considering Mizzou's, LSU's, Georgia's, & TA&M's drop off...I am not sure that they are anymore, and I am not sure that Texas doesn't do more damage to that conference when they gobble up so much talent that would otherwise be available to one of these schools. We have seen how UK's rise has affected Florida's recruiting, and now Texas will be able to recruit better in Florida. You add this to the rise of the ACC and how Louisville is affecting the SEC talent pool, as well as how G Tech, FSU & Miami are gaining strength, recruiting in the SouthEast is going to only get tighter, making for many more schools to fall back into just being title IX buffers. I would pit Texas vs Kentucky, Baylor vs Florida, Kansas vs MissSt., Texas Tech vs Tenn, WV vs SCar, KState vs Ark, & Iowa St. vs Ole Miss, and have SEC only being the better in maybe 2 of those match ups...and that is 1-7 of each conf going head to head. The top 3 leagues in my opinion is B1G, PAC, ACC, and the last 2 yrs Big12 over SEC for 4th. The Texas move will shift more power to the SEC, but having 3 top tier teams is probably going to cause Florida to be less not greater in ranking, and really adding 2 more loses to those not Kentucky & Florida. Also, the addition takes away opportunities to play outside the conference by at least 2 games to make room to put Texas in the schedule.

    @@robertevans2450 I like the take on recruiting, but is Texas's recruiting helped or hindered in the SEC? Will they get more out of SEC country, or do they lose out on more in state recruits because of the added competition?

  • @robertevans2450

    @robertevans2450

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@timmeyer9191 Texas will always get the pick of the litter of Texas talent. Looking at TA&M is easy to see it didn't help FL or UK or Tenn, etc...in getting Texas talent, yet it was a portal transfer from UK to Baylor that made a notable difference. If you are a Florida kid, do you want to go to a team with multiple Natty banners or one still trying to get one? Both are hot States...both easy for the family to travel to, both seeing the same venues when not playing at home...Culture of winners and for pros who are playing yrs after graduation is really only one choice. So, yes...I do believe it will only increase the recruiting pool for Texas while not doing much positives for the other members of the SEC. When you get down a few tiers and the discussion is Florida or RICE...or Florida or Tech...then maybe you see where SEC is getting access they didn't have before...but that isn't the level UK, UT or Florida wish to be contending with recruiting.
