On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are honored to be joined by Nebraska Football legends Grant Wistrom & Jared Tomich. Anyone who watched the Blackshirts in the mid-90's know who these fine gentlemen are, and many a former college quarterback likely still experience night terrors after being pulverized by these two and their teammates. Peyton Manning, anyone?
On this show we will talk to the guys about what they're up to these days, discuss the glory years, and the Championship Mindset that was cultivated back then, and ask them when and where they believe the program began to slip. Then, the boys will answer a few questions from our live audience, and social media. Finally, we wrap things up by discussing the current team, and if The Bookends believe Matt Rhule and his 2024 Huskers will begin to right the ship, and signal Nebraska's eventual return to greatness on the national stage.

Yeah man, I remember hearing that said numerous times back in the day. But to hear it from two of the GOATs to inflict that kind of punishment, on our little podcast? Utterly surreal.

@@genredpod Loved every minute of it! GW is the one who's on the black ball in the case behind us. BJ's favorite defensive player all-time.

@BigRedJunkies he's my favorite Blackshirt ever too. I didn't say it on the show because I didn't want to come off like a total fanboy. Lol

It was so much fun. You could tell how much Grant & Jared admired and cared about each other. So many quotable moments. I feel bad that I was so busy producing at times that I missed some of those gems. Can't wait to listen back to the podcast later.

Great show! Two of the Husker greats that made a difference every time they played. I'm stoked the program has truly embraced the players that repped the N in every way. Glad to see us finally getting a culture back in place. Culture is always top tier on championship teams. LFG GBR ☠️☠️☠️☠️

I did enjoy the interview. But what gets really old is this narrative that the 90s players somehow have this magical aura about them and nobody can ever measure up and compare or outwork them. It gets old

@emusdad I don't ever feel that. Simply invested in what they feel is still their program. Coming from the most dominant team ever in CFB. They deserve to get the respect. Both went to have successful NFL careers. I think it's safe to say they know football. It's why Nebraska is special. Never forget .
