This guy, man, is ridiculous. He climbs a rocket, which was already fired (and from the looks of it is already in stratosphere), climbs to the tip, then when it tilts down climbs back to thrusters and stands (!) on those burning thrusters. I mean, wow.

Funny enough this is the 1st Contra game I owned.

I got to be around this level when I played this... But I BARELY beat the game on hard, it is relentless One of the finest moments in my gaming life (very close to the moment when I first beat Contra 3 on Hard for the first time). Congrats on a well done playthrough.

Done by same composer that did Shovel Knight.

It actually has two screens. And they have a little space between them. In games there two screens are used in battle parts (in many games one of the screens is used only for stats, map, inventory, etc.) like in Contra Dual Spirits developers prefer to emulate this space between screens so you can't tell if there is anything there or not.

Why not, at least it's a good reference and makes good for an annoying enemy cannon fodder that adds to the challenges if you're not careful. Not to mention it fits the theme to the series overall, especially by Contra III: The Alien Wars

Many games like this seem to have their alien enemies or bosses have characteristics of the Aliens from the Aliens franchise. Maybe it's cause it's the most easiest and familiar to design then making your own. Or it could just be because they feel like making a tribute to the films.

Cheats are preloaded in emulator, not sure about actual DS

contra dual spirit is the most badass game to me other than contra series...reminds me in rambo and commando ehheheeh

If only Wayforward made this, the game would be called Mighty Contra Battling Duo. Great job by Wayforward though.

Is there a proper split on DS emulators?

I fucking hate all the later sequels to Contra, Castlevania, Mega Man, Metroid were scattershot across multiple systems

Mysterious Maximus "Decade They feel nothing like each other actually." -- Yeah a fast paced run and gun sidescroller game where you collect powerups and shoot at tons of enemies on screen, fight soldiers and aliens, and battle huge machines etc feel, "nothing alike" to each other. You dumbass.

I completely agree. I think they included that small dead zone to make it seem like the small gap between the DS screens. Dumb decision and is a visual distraction in which you can easily get killed not paying attention.

+Jason Hogan Its only annoying on an emulator, or at least not as annoying, besides you blow out the final boss's butt cheeks (butt flaps?), crawl up its ass and blow up his brain it more than makes up for it.

@GAMP: Destroyer of Liberalism technically Black Viper's just the final boss in this, Red Falcon's an entire army unless you count the continuity problems in the American release of this game since for some reason it calls Gava just "Red Falcon".

+OuroborosChoked Yes I didn't notice that he did it the old school nes way (where there was no extra button to "hold position") until it was pointed out. But then again, he has decent skills, so I won't criticize.

This entire game is a big loadsome of fanservice to fans of ze original Contra until Alien Wars.

That dead zone in the center of the screens killed this game for me... I mean I beat it on Hard but I would have considered this game almost better than Contra 3 if it wasn't for that stupid DS crap.

you know i had the awesomenest glitch ever in contra 4 it was when i killed the first bost i was killed at the same time as him and then i got 99 lives and it warped me to the final boss and i finished the game easy
