Faded In My Last Song is underrated banger. NCT's slower songs in general are always top tier imo.

taeyong actually wrote yestoday when he was a trainee and originally it was just him and Doyoung its about his hardships at that point in his life its why his rap is longer here lol then when sm decided to put it in the empathy album mark and Lucas were added and mark wrote his rap for this tysm for the reaction

Renjun is the king of harmonization in NCT as Mark said and you can see that in faded in my last song , he harmonized with Yuta , Ten,Jisung and Haechan

The lyrics and meaning behind Yestoday is deep

Two of my favourite songs. Love “Faded in my last song” for the harmonies and “Yestoday” for the lyrics. I think Yestoday is one of their most personal and meaningful songs to this day. It was written by Taeyong back before their debut and Mark later wrote/added his verse. They describe their past and struggles.

the way 18 year old mark ate Yestoday apparently him and Taeyong worked on it for 2 years so 16 year old Mark's pen game is crazy

Faded In My Last Song is just top tier! One of their best songs. It's why I loved the Resonance album because they really got to mix up everyone in each track and it had the best outcomes.

NCT-U's "Yestoday" (Yes-to-day) is one of those songs that you just have to look up the lyrics to. The words are very personal to Taeyong and Mark and it's all about their shortcomings, regrets and struggles and how they sacrificed their youth to become Idols and to do what they love to do. An explanation of what it's about, doesn't do it justice. The song is off NCT's Empathy album so SM kind of reworked Taeyong's original song to make it fit more of an empathetic vibe and message. The main message is still very powerful, but far less dark and self deprecating than Taeyong originally wrote the song and lyrics to be. Yes, the setting is supposed to be depicting a dream world. Like everything NCT does their concept is all about dreams, dreaming or being in a dream state. Taeyong wrote this song when he was still a trainee, and from the very beginning his plan was to have Doyoung be the vocalist on the song, but when SM greenlighted it for the album they decided to add Mark and Lucas to it as well. I always find it slightly odd that Lucas was the one that was given the all English verse, because he isn't extremely fluent in English normally. As I think you know, Lucas is Chinese and he is a member of WayV, so his native language is Cantonese and he speaks Mandarin. However, he did a really good job with his pronunciation, so he must have practiced it quite a bit. It seems like Mark would be a more logical person to have an all English verse because he is Korean-Canadian and English is his native language, but I guess Mark actually wrote his lyrics, so the choice to use mostly Korean, must have been what he wanted.

@@henolongerneedsme I didn't wanna hurt anyone's feelings before because he was genuinely an entertaining member especially on variety shows and he seemed nice but his singing parts honestly did bother me (i think it has to do with his enunciation?) and he's not a nice person so i don't censor myself anymore 🤷
