Dirk was so consistent over his career and his numbers in the clutch are top 3 (depending on the stats you pick). I also think that his peak during the 2011 playoffs might one of the all time best. He could not be stopped by anybody. He beat Kobe, Gasol, Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Lebron, Bosh and Wade in one playoff run. Absolute legend

Probably nobody will ever plow through a harder road to win one than 2011, he just was not gonna be stopped, you look down the list of teams/players he took down pretty much on his own, is fucking mind boggling, then it comes out later the lil doc he finally let them show, that he had been going every Christmas to the childrens hospital not wanting any coverage of it, not only ten best NBA all time, probably ten best people all time, I have met him hundreds of times and he is just the nicest guy. He definitely had allstar talent. Just never had them for very long. Nash, terry wasn’t actually an allstar but he was a 15-19 ppg scorer at his peak, Michael Finley, chandler was at his best in Dallas, he had Antwan Jamison for a lil bit, Josh Howard was a really good player and a one time allstar. Now u can say he didn’t have another superstar talent at their best next to him because all of his best talented teammates came late or early in their careers. But he definitely had a decent amount of above average talent around him that kept the mavs competitive. The just could never secure that consistent second star to pair with him.

A good chunk of us in the 30s-40s watched him grow into a legend from the start after his draft, and unlike Duncan or Kobe who also played during Dirk's career, Dirk's successes on the court opened the eyes in looking further into a finding that talented player in groomed in Europe (or internationally) to be the franchise player, though Drazen Petrovic also fit that mold, only his career was cut short. And Dirk had consistent jump shot, which his unblockable one-legged fadeaway is iconic move. There was no answer to defending a 7-footer with one of the sweetest shooting touches of all time. But the most amazing feat is him leading the Mavs to that title in 2011, taking down many future HOFers on the way. He may have only won one title, but his mentality and his devotion to the city of Dallas is inspirational.

Dirk IS Dallas and I can confidently say that as a DFW’er since ‘94!! And yes guys like Troy and Playmaker Irvin are absolute legends and heroes here, but everyone here knows that it’s Dirk and then a big gap until the next most beloved sports hero of Dallas. That will NEVER change! What makes Dirk much more beloved and special is that he’s the classiest, most ultimate great human too, not just legendary top athlete! That’s more respectable and commendable than anything else he’s done on the court. Show me another player that multiple opposing coaches intentionally stopped games to give in-game speeches on his greatness and had the opposing team fans giving him a standing ovation at every road game his final season..!!! You can’t because nobody is more loved than Dirk and he is completely deserving of it all!!!!

If Dirk played for the Lakers he would win 5 more titles. But at the end it was the right decision to stay at Dallas. I became a Legend and I think it will never get a german talented Basketball player like Dirk. For me he is TOP 30 of all time in the NBA.

2011 championship was my greatest sports memory ever. Only thing that could top it is the Buffalo Bills winning a Super Bowl. Or if John Paxton missed that 3 pointer and the Suns beat the Bulls in Game 7.. and they would’ve been slightly favored

Dangggg how you gonna disrespect Dirk like that at the very last second and say he’s your 2nd favorite Euro player?!?!? Lol I respect your opinion and am curious who is your number 1 Euro! Dirk isn’t just an absolute LEGEND of a player but he’s also one of the best, most respectable human beings of all time! He IS and will ALWAYS be Dallas and we can never repay him and give enough thanks to what he did for our city and our people here in Dallas!! Can’t wait for his 1st ballot HOF speech in 2 years!!

@@anthonyyoung4638 I loved the dominance of PF's in 2000's which is still my favorite era. Tim Duncan, KG, Dirk, Pau Gasol, Zach Randolph, Chris Webber, Antawn Jamison, Jermaine O'Neal, Bosh Brand and so on. Like you said, they were like skillful Centers. While the traditional Centers are indeed dead now, the PF's of 2000's created new standards for bigs.

Dirk is the only player from Germany who made it out of that league when he came over. Dirk is an actual example of being sportsmanlike, remember when Bosh and Wade were giggling at this guy and he just says "Yea, I ignore that clown shit" then won the chip that very year? Glorious. Dirk is an example of actually staying on a team and winning a championship instead of bouncing from team to team. Dude got drafted to the Mavs in '98! Won ONCE 13 years later, you guys remember who he won against though, then continued playing on that team until 2019. I'm a Knicks fan, Patrick Ewing lost for 20 straight years, he'd do another 20 just for the chance at ONE ring. But today's NBA "fans" just say "Ewing should've asked for a trade", clown shit.
