I think Kareem said it best when he said that Bird's mind was his greatest weapon. He knew when to most effectively use each aspect of his game at the appropriate time.

Birds basketball IQ was freakish. Him and Magic were absolutely superior in their IQ.

It’s wonderful to see how much respect these old players have for each other. The clip where he and Magic both insists that the other guy was a better player speaks volumes about their character.

Something Kareem and a few others I've heard say that Bird was always in the right place at the right time. When that happens a lot of times as it did with Bird, its no accident! I believe his nickname fits perfectly: Larry Legend!

There really were some great players in that era, and Larry was like Dale Earnhardt “The intimidator” Opposing players just couldn’t figure out Larry’s logic. Just watching this video makes me want to watch basketball again!

Man, I am so glad that I am 60 years old because I saw all of the BEST in their prime. Bird was a killer. I'm born and raised in Philly and that rivalry with the Celtics is very real. Larry Bird was a Killer. Is he the GOAT? I saw Jordan, Chamberlain; my pop went to West Catholic and Wilt was at Overbrook. He would tell me stories about some of those games. Make your hair stand up. Wilt was the MOST dominate player, ever. The best was Michael. He did it all. Played Bball at the highest level then goes to play baseball then comes back to Basketball and didn't miss a beat. Larry Bird? A Killer. For me it's Jordan, Chamberlain and Bird. Oh, did I say that Bird was a Killer?

To me the measurement of how good or great a player was is by what his peers have to say about them and there were a lot of players, coaches, that reaped praise on Bird, we're talking HOF players like Kareem, Jordan, Wilkins, Thomas, Shaq, Magic, Worthy to name a few, and coaches like Layden, Knight, Cunningham, Hubie Brown, Pat Riley and most of us are familiar with what Pat Riley said about the Legend.

I'm still confused about the fight with Dr. J... Yes Bird was disrespectful telling him to retire, but when they got into it... were Moses and Charles being like HS bullies and holding him while their guy got in some punches or were they trying to break it up.. Not into HS bully thing.. If Dr. J wanted to go after Bird one on one.. ok.. not 3 on one. not cool
