To put Greztky's numbers into perspective, if we only account for his Assists, he would still be #1 in points in NHL history. Let that sink in for a moment.. his stats line would be like 0 goals, 1963 assists for 1963 total pts. 2nd best in points in NHL history is Jaromir Jagr with 1921 total pts. If we add Gretzky's goals into the mix, Great One has 2857 pts... almost 1000 pts ahead of Jagr at #2 on the list. He's the GOAT. Maybe even all sports GOAT.

Wayne Gretzky was huge in the 80s and got alot of points, 894 goals 1963 assist 2857 pts in 1487 games. Won 4 cups all with Edmonton who was a part of the WHA expansion in the 70s and 80s which brought alot of legends to the nhl

Gretzky is the GOAT of GOATs. All time leading point scorer (goals and assists) and even if he never scored a single goal in his career, his assists alone would still be enough for him to be the all time leading scorer. That is insane and probably the craziest stat in sports.

He's the GOAT. Hands down. You get a point for a goal, and a point for an assist. He has more goals than anyone else has points! And he has over twice as many assists as he has goals. GOAT.

Ik its a year late but in the NHL you have goals and assists then your points are goals and assists combined and Gretzky had so many assists that even if he never scored a goal he would still be top 10 all time for points

I think Federov was better than Datsyuk. Datsyuk is undeniably a great puck handler and goal scorer. Just my personal opinion as a life long Red Wings fan.

Best shootouts is lit. Focuses on strictly skill, and u see alot of dangles/deeks. Shoot-out happens when the game goes into overtime and ends it with there still not being a winner. The players go on the ice 1 at a time and start at the half rank then go 1 on 1 with the goalie. They get to shoot once and if puck don't go in then the puck is dead then the other team tries. Since there's no pressure from defense or risk of getting hit, the players are able to really get in their bag and do some crazy shit. Some of the most fancy trick shots u will ever see.

Gretzky was called The Great One.. his boyhood idol.. was the GOAT.. Mr. Hockey.. Gordie Howe.. he was so good, he played with two of his sons professionally and played into his 50's.

Gretzky retired in 99, with 62 NHL records. He still owns 61 of them. He has the all-time goal scoring record, with 894. If you took all of them away, he'd still be the all-time points leader. He has 1,963 assists. The 2nd place all-time points leader only has 1921 points.

Dekes and dangles are basically the same thing, just different terminology

Specifically, a deke is a body fake (dropped shoulder, lifted skate, head fake) and a dangle is a puck fake. But, yeah, people use them interchangeably because they almost always a company one another. It's rare there's a deke without a dangle or an angle without a deke.

Gretzky was the Goat but my all time goat was Gordie Howe number 9 from Detroit…Howe held all the records and Gretzky finally beat a lot of them…But not all…Howe still has most games played and was still playing in his 50’s and beating the shit out of 18-20 year olds…This was back before the game had dedicated players that would rough up others, back then everyone had to do everything, score fight etc…To this day in hockey a Gordie Howe hat trick means you got a goal an assist and got into a fight in the same game.

Gretzky is considered the goat. But it's more that he was just ahead of his time. In today's game he wouldn't put up those numbers. It's like watching a white dude playing basketball in the 40s vs LeBron James

Mario Lemieux is the GOAT, Bobby Orr 2nd but Wayne Gretzky is 3rd. Although Gretzky is widely accepted as the GOAT. When it’s all said and done though I believe that Connor McDavid will be generally accepted as the GOAT and rightfully so. He’s amazing.

Wayne Gretzky was good but I definitely don’t think he’s as good as they all say. He was protected by refs and the league they wouldn’t call penalty’s that where clear penalty’s from him and let him get away with lots

@@brothermane6591 no not really, the case of gretzky being the goat is generally the strongest case, but lemieux is probably the most talented hockey player of all time, Orr was such a revolutionary force for defensemen that you must give him consideration as the goat and gordie Howe is generally considered the most well rounded hockey player of all time and that cannot be dismissed from the goat conversation. Overall gretzky had the best career but played in the best situation as well. The other 3 must be considered before giving the title to gretzky

I am not sure about that. If Gretzky had grown up with the current generation of NHL stars, he would have trained in the same way that they do now. He most likely would have been physically stronger as well. But main thing that distinguished him from other players was his hockey intelligence, he out thought his opponents more so than he out performed ... he was always a step or two ahead thinking wise.
