One thing that's changed since this video....in November 2023, the Navy announced they will start letting recruits have access to their cell phones during boot camp. They'll still be locked away for 99% of the time, but recruits will be allowed to use them for those 4 or 5 times they're allowed to call home instead of being forced to use the payphones with a calling card. I was surprised at first, until I read the Army and Air Force were already allowing it.

Went over my daughter's LES with her a couple weeks ago. It's very strange the way they give out BAH and BAS now. Even though she's in A-school and living in dorms with everyone else, they still give her a small amount of BAH for cleaning supplies. The BAS was weird too. With there being a chow hall a few steps away from her school and housing, I assumed they'd give her nothing for food. She's actually getting over 400 dollars a month, but then they take it right out of her check on a monthly basis for anytime she eats at the chow hall.

#1 fail in boot camp is running be able to run the mile and half in under 12:30 and be able to do a plank for 1:30 and you’ll be good brother!

definitely run 1.5 mile, max pushups and max planks every day at the very least. ideally you should commit 1 hour of your time a day towards exercise and pt. doing things like squats, burpees, crunches, wall sits, jumping jacks, flutter kicks/scissor kicks, etc. on a regular basis can help get you accustomed to what you'll go through at boot camp

I’m going to join soon. I’m still quite afraid that I may not succeed and graduate. But I will do it over and over and over. If I don’t do this then I can’t do anything in my life. My life has been awful. I’m stuck in a dead end job that I hate and I always wanted to join. So If I can’t make it then I will just be stuck with my sad life haha. But I won’t give up they will have to drag me out.

There is ITE in the barracks now. Wow! Well, when I went through in '97, there was IT and then AIT. AIT was in a different building and Sailors work out in a group AND in sync lead by SEALS. If you were out of sync for even a little bit, they have to do the entire evolution all over again! Now, that could be intense for those who needed extra "motivation" I know this from my time as a ship's yeoman during service week (which the Navy doesn't have anymore).

@@theguyfromwalgreens I bet it was. That is probably one of the reasons they seemed so intimidating. Oh, then you had to stay there the whole time facing the other way on bleachers so I could escort the Sailor back. If the SEALS caught you looking back for a second, then you would joining them. Just wow; so I had to use my peripheral vision the best I could, lol.

Plenty on hand discipline and got our arse handed to you if you screwed up, then go to Marching party aka I.T. even when we use March around with an old M1 rifle to get exercise with them. Pure hell.l Bring back the old Dungeree's. Lol NTC/RTC San Diego aka Club Diego. Had the opportunity to go to boot at Great Mistakes... Thank God I didn't.

You're going to be fine. Just pay attention and learn the chain of command + rank and recognition as much as you can. study your start guide: ranks and recognition, 11 general orders, sailor's creed, rtc maxim, chain of command as your top priority. there's quizlets online you can use, and for memorization, finding patterns or associating material with other things you know can be helpful to memorize information. as long as you have the motivation and eagerness to learn and improve, you should do fine. best of luck to you!

    11 ай бұрын

To answer your question. (I just got out of RTC) the recruits you see are not E-4 or E-5. The insignia you see worn are collar devices so they are not even part of the type 3 uniform. The insignia mean leadership positions inside the division, for example RCPO wears a Gold Fouled anchor. ARCPO wears the insignia of a First Class Petty Officer. The insignia is worn purely to set the divisional recruit leadership apart from the others for ease of identification. Hopefully this helps.

Rules change often. Personally could not state why that was during that time. But there may have been a standard uniform change during that time. It depends on the triad in charge of the time. For example, NSU's were standard for us until the pandemic hit. They then said NWU's no matter what.
