Hey Everyone! ) I’m Anna and welcome to my channel. Here, I post some useful information for English learners. I’m from Ukraine and I’ve worked on my English and accent, for the most part, on my own, but you can find out and trace my story by watching my videos. I’ve been studying American pronunciation for a long time, and I still do, and I guess I always will - because it’s not math. Learning a language, it’s a lifetime journey. I know exactly what it takes to become fluent and acquire an accent in a non-English speaking country, and I’ve never even been to one. And I’m sharing this information here - on my channel.

Girl l'm American and I've Never given or received directions saying head North, South, East or West and I've received directions locally and when traveling to other states. I'm sure it happens but l haven't experienced it. Most Americans don't have time for that. We're trying to get where we're going by keeping it short and simple. Turn right, go straight or go back 2 blocks and turn left etc. I'm in middle America and we keep it basic.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:41 🌍 Americans and Europeans give directions differently. In the US, people often use cardinal directions like North, South, East, and West when giving directions, which can be confusing for Europeans who are used to "turn left" or "turn right" instructions. 02:02 🇺🇸 Americans typically speak American English, while in Europe, British English is more commonly taught and used. This linguistic difference surprises some Americans who assume their version of English is more widespread. 02:30 😃 Americans are generally open, friendly, and approachable, often engaging in small talk, giving compliments, and being sociable with strangers. This friendliness stands in contrast to some European cultures where people may be more reserved and less likely to initiate conversations or show overt friendliness. 03:54 🌎 The United States is known for its diversity, with people from all over the world living and interacting together. This diversity allows for the opportunity to meet people from various backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life, fostering a rich multicultural experience.

Americans use cardinal directions where it makes sense, but can you imagine a human language that does not have words for left and right? Moreover, can you imagine that a typical greeting involves cardinal directions, because it usually goes like this: "Where are you going?" "North-East-East. And you?" It is really amazing that children as young as 3 y.o. can answer immediately without thinking at all.

You´re right about the planning of the cities that allow the gringos to give proper directions when you´re driving around. But you know that the people in Europe changed (and it´s documented) after WWII. So much slaughter and destruction changed the soul. Now it´s live again in Ukraine reason why they started to support Ukraine.
