In case you don't see the comment I made, I'll put it here too. The OTOMATIC has IRST and can have a radar sweep range of 20km. That doesn't make it 11.0 but it does make it a little better than what you showed here. And without any tracers and using IRST, the enemy should only know your firing at them because muzzle flash, and the fact they are taking damage. (Also, I've loved the OTOMATIC since I started playing war thunder and became an italy main.)

It is very realistic, the Otomatic didn't take off because they noticed it didn't have any real edge over classic Anti Air missiles, Gaejin teaches us history by f*cking up their own game.

The Draco would be 11.0+ worthy. It’s basically a b1 Centauro hull with a modified OTOMATIC turret. the flank potential would be something else.

I mean, with the whole Yak-141 argumentation, that systems, that existed at the time but were only mock-ups on the prototype, are legible now, the Draco seriously has a chance now. Its turret was a mockup, but the systems exist(ed).

​@@robotox8672 you switched things up. Plane existed, engines and fcs in whole. Engineers were rushed and didnt fit on (already existing and tested) systems to that platform. Radar, irst and r27/77/73 all existed and were used later and or before. I dont know much about italy, not my country of interest, but mock up turret is something else than situation with yak. I mean, easy example would be mess that is japanese f16, wich didnt exist at all, but alr

As an Italy main, Gijin make it clear every patch that they hate Italy at a fundamental level. Pretty much our entire tree is over BRed. Hell the SIDAM at 8.3 gets a total of 90 AP rounds and a tracking system that only work in fair weather and during the day.

they removed the thermals a while a go and since that the bad weather/night tracking doesnt work anymore. The reason they removed thermals "it was only a prototype". But on the same page we got the ariete (P) PROTOTYPE.... like wtf guys?! its not like there a many prototypes and balancing things going on like limiting the APFSDS of the Otomatic and shit like that. I think gajin doesnt work on Italy anymore since it gets played a lot less (because the vehicles have a lot of bugs and are over br ed for normal players). Funfact the VC80-60 recon drone still cant use thermals like every other vehicle in game.....

Italy is rly being killed by Gayjin for sure. Best guess - it’s cause Italian tree was the one to incorporate all the best qualities: small and fast to grind, unique and not full of clones, fun to play vehicles with their own gameplay types. R3T120, autoblindes, centauros, Breda, etc - all had fun and unique gameplay compared to usual medium/heavy tanks. And you are not supposed to have fun in WT, you are supposed to suffer and pay money to lower the pain.

I grinded the Italy only to get the OTOMATIC, was my first fully unlocked ground tech tree. The OTOMATIC was and still is a majestic vehicle, but ridiculously outmatched nowaday. I still enjoy playing it from time to time, surprisingly a lot of people praise you whenever you manage to save the day against CAS. Little tip btw, it's one of the few vehicle where you can use the IRST mode of the radar and still have the lead indicator. Also the OTOMATIC is actually decent against helicopter doing pop-up attack behind cover, if you manage to get a decent ranging you can easily get them behind cover, nothing to fancy either but it still satisfying to feel the slap from the autocannon. Now for the BR changes, Italy got shafted with the BR decompression, I don't get why they uptiered the OTOMATIC either, nor do I understand why the Ariete got uptiered, and I find that even funny to see the new Ariete AMV coming soon, being considered on par with a BVM, M1A2 SEV2, Leo 2a6 ... Just because they added an DM53 ...

Holy cow I remember back in the day when there were so many videos about this thing destroying tanks left and right and bringing jets down faster than you can look. I even remember wanting to grind the italien tree because of this singular vehicle. The moment I saw the thumbnail it was like seeing a ghost and seeing it being 11.0 just made me speechless. If you are an og you know how amazing this thing was. The videos were so good but then it just stopped and nobody ever mentioned it again. I am watching a video about a forgotten and fallen king.

It’s still a pretty good vehicles though, versatile and deadly. Just not such a jack of all trades as it used to, now it’s more of a close range anti air cover with some potential to fight off mbts.

Love the Ottomatic! Top tier players are so worried about missles they don't see the Ottomatic coming :P

OTOMATIC could be 10.3 and it would be fine there. Especially if they keep the artificial limit on APFSDS rounds. after that just give Italy a Roland 3 if they remove the APFSDS limit like they should, 10.7 no higher, thats where the HSTV-L belongs too. Otomatic should be used as a light tank with the ability to be a pretty good close range SPAA

They need to fix ircm on this thing. You should be able to lock onto aircraft much like the m134 of sidam25. The current implementation of ircm on the otomatic forces you to have your radar to be up pinging your location whereas the actual oto would be able to use each system independently

I don't think the 2S38 is as undertiered as people think. But the Otomatic and HSTV are severely overtiered. The small calibre darts are punishingly inconsistent.

@@shronkler1994 I didn't say it wasn't under tiered. I'm saying that in most cases I'm still performing better in other vehicles. One thing that I will admit that drastically increases its potential performance is its capacity to engage both ground and air. It struggles to deal with MBTs in a head on engagement and I understand it's good on a flank but everything is good on a flank, but it's not particularly proficient at getting to the flank. What boosts the kill count is the additional air kills, not its ground lethality. Naturally this same weakness extends to the Otomatic and HSTV. Thus why they're severely over tiered. Because being on the receiving end of the AC is annoying and seems powerful when you're the victim but when you're the tanker there is a lot of RNG involved that the victim never sees. I die a lot to annoying Gaijin BS in these three vehicles but that doesn't stop people from complaining about how broken they all are because they don't see that BS. Also I don't know what you mean it could go up to 9.7, it's already at 9.7. I do agree that it would do fine at 10.0.

Being an Italy main, you dissing all my anti airs hurts. The sidam I think are amazing, IRST stops enemy's from knowing their tracked, and the mistral missiles on the second one are great if you know how to use em. Only downside I've run into is the inability to kill heli's that sit over 6km away.

High tier for AA can be fun and challenging, I think my two favorites though still lay in the American tech tree as the M163 (because minigun, so yes) and the quad .50cal setup of the M16

GGs Phly, that was me in the Kamov first game =D It’s an enjoyable first spawn to say the least. And I had sniped your breech with the 30mm, not a rocket. It has really impressive ballistics.

That bit testing out the SIDAM is just KILLING me because YOU DON'T HAD THE PANIC-SABOT BELTS EQUIPPED! That Shilka would be dead with just a TAP from those 60-round belts!

Phly just a cool fact about the Gepard. It is actually modified leopard hull with a flakpanzer turret. The hull was stretched and changed in a few places.

One of the only guys I watch to be able to do this crazy stuff. I got the rank 5 usa aa with the 20mm automation and one time went on a killing spree of 5 kills not on airplanes it was only me and another guy and the other team only were missing like 2. We got dealt a team that was noobs with premium stuff they bought and had no idea how to use them

Those were the days. Since then they nerfed the m163 hard by decreasing its penetration. And of course its not historical, having its m113 platform way underperforming, lacking its proper tracking ability, apds round etc. The m163 is a pretty sad case

Gaijin is KILLING one off he most fun tech tree in the game. I love how so many memes vehicles can be used upbiar, like the M15/42 at 5.3, where you can kill tigers and panthers pretty easily. Hope to see new vehicles, especially prototypes built and never enter in production, like in other nations tech tree. Some of them are the Falco, Breda M42, Draco, Leone, the Semovente 47/32 su scafo AB42 (a 47mm cannon on top of an AB42 chassis), Semovente M6/39 (real size prototype), P75 (cursed by design), Autoblindo TL37. There are other vehicoles but they only made project on paper and wooden mockup, like the P43 and P43 bis, but they can't be introducted. English is not my language, sorry for poor grammar

The of-40 at 7.7 is a great tank though. very under rated. possibly over tiered or its just right.

The OTO is the best AAA system for taking down choppers, get range manually set gun then fire 6-8 shells. Long as you dont lock the heli theyll never know those rounds are coming in.

Gotta mention OTO has an IRST mode. The vehicle is tricky to use and is not as far reaching, it does outperform SAMs in close range and bullies helis by not tripiing RWRs at 5km. Still my go to weapon system for spaa daily tasks, esp now that proxy rounds have no tracer OTOMAGIC

Phly otomatic have an hiden feater that you could use to shoot down plane or heli, it's IRST binded ( y + 1 + 3) so you can lock something without telling the rwr of the target that it being focus

Speaking of AA, try out the LVKV 9040C, its basicly a OTOMATIC but on 10.0, thou the radar can drive you insane since it seams to pick up everything thats in the sky and larger than a fly >.> . *Edit, a bit sad that the OTO never took off, would have been a cool vechicle to see in action IRL.

With new update you can leave your radar off and lock targets with its antenna

it's my go to AA lineup for killing aircraft tasks. I love the otoman :)

You should phly the M.S. 406. It is a challenge to conserve ammo, but it's really phun

sidam 25 is good, it has the fastest turret rotation of any vehicle ingame

Really sad to see how this thing has fallen. I picked up Italy like 6-8 months ago solely to get this ridiculous thing and I'm a couple vehicles away now. I'm pretty disappointed.

Okay so...The proxy rounds detonate on missiles and bombs but it won't, never ever, destroy them. If the proxy rounds destroyed incoming ordinance then it might be good.

the OTOMATIC really isnt that bad, you just have to learn to play it properly, and... USE THE BLOODY IRST FOR HELIS!!!!!!!! I find it a pretty fun vehicle, provided you actually focus on using it as an SPAA primarily and as an anti-tank vehicle as a last resort. For shooting helis, switch to IRST mode, chances are they will be hovering, fire off 3 or 4 shells, they will have no idea and probably die to the first salvo. For moving helis, same applies, if the range is too far, wait until its within 5km. For aircraft, stay hidden until they are within 2km, then fire off a few shells. Once again, the IRST should be used to not trigger RADAR warning systems. The OTOMATIC plays totally differently if you track stuff without giving the target a warning. I've had battles with multiple F-14 kills and heli kills in the OTOMATIC because i was positioned correctly and simply just playing its advantages.

Justice for Italy! 😔 phly are able to play the Mars 15 by chance? Its 1 vehicle that I haven’t seen much CC play and I think it will be nice for you to do a first time video on it.
