People still don't realize how crazy influential this masterpiece and Castle in The Sky have been over the decades. Half the tropes across Final Fantasy games (chocobos, airships, ancient magitech, etc.), Scarlet Rot and Melania Blade of Miquella from Elden Ring, the Guardians in BotW, the golems in Minecraft...the list really does go on.

@@malik-a-creeper Funny because Galaxian and Pac-Man came out years before Nausicaa was even released. But I would definitely say Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit, as well as The Earthsea books, pretty much inspired a lot of fantasy we have for nearly decades now. Even the Grimm Brother's tales inspired much of fantasy in the 20th century as well, not just Tolken's & Ursula Le Guin's Books as well. Heck, fantasy might have not gotten the push had Science fiction in the 20th century (1900s, 1920s, 1950s, an onward) were inspirations back in the day as well. Anything these Japanese men and women got their hands on or read decades ago could have been inspirations to make films in the future as well.

Sadly, we are heading there. We need to understand the message before is too late. The collapse is coming... we are causing it with all the disrespect to earth and nature. What I’ve noticed about Hisaishi, he doesn’t just create absolute beautiful… tearful jaw dropping masterpieces of music, that keeps your heart thumping up and down a staircase. But he’s so good at creating music that goes with the era, theme and setting the film is based in. for example is based in, you can listen to one of his pieces, and now what it’s exactly about without knowing anything but just hearing the audio. This perfectly matches the story of an old civilisation, that has been spoken legends past. And it’s upbringing of survival, loss and war through it’s apocalyptic world.

For those who don't know, the manga was finished 10 years after the film came out, and it's possibly the greatest work of environmental fiction ever written. The film is great, yes, but it wasn't consistent with Miyazaki's vision and the message he was finally able to properly convey a decade later. The manga is a brutal look at war, socio-political ethics, and a haunting mirror at what we're slowing doing to destroy our own planet as I write this. Go read it. Then go tell others to read it. It needs to be read, now more than ever.

This particular piece would be infinitely better without the preamble. I wish there were some way to edit it out.

This is one of the adaptation from a manga in which i felt the manga and the adaptation were very very different, in the movie we can see an dangerous but fair and seemingly at peace world, while in the manga it's a bloody, disgusting, tortured and twisted world filled with cruel tirant and fanatics...

Has anyone noticed that the melody from 0.50 resembles Giorno Giovanna's theme? Even studio ghibli is a Jojo reference 😂 Just kidding, this soundtrack is spectacular
