The rare butterfly, called Macedonian grayling, is one of the most endangered European butterflies (according to IUCN), protected by national laws. However, prepared trophies of its fragile body can be freely bought online for a very low price, all throughout Europe.
The investigative team of the Institute of Communication Studies - Skopje and DW Europe, is on a quest to find out whether the bought specimens were poached after the national ban on poaching and selling the Macedonian grayling. What is the world doing to prevent the disappearance of yet another rare species?
