My mom used tin foil as well. It was cool until we moved and I started going to an all white school. Then I got a relaxer and, the rest as they, is history. 😑

Thank you for telling us, I was surprised to get to the end of the video without her telling us where they're found and what the end piece was called instead a "thingie."
I would like to say bless your heart!!! My daughter is still fairly young but we are of Caribbean Heritage (in Brooklyn, NY) and she will eventually have to wear beads in her hair too. She will have to go through the rite of passage of inadvertently smacking herself in the face with a head full beads. I would have spared her the foil (unlike us) and go to the rubber bands but I will just use these leaf bails. SO THANK YOU!!! (On her behalf LOL)
Yeeesss! I forgot abut the aluminum foil. I was in the foil gang for many years.

I had no idea these even existed. Purchasing for sure. Thanks
Ohhh tin foil beads! I REMEMBER! I was the only Black girl in my elementary school for a few years (and one 3/4 at the most) ... so the tin foil, Poetic Justice styles, box braids, and Bantu knots was an experience I didn't appreciate at the time 🤣 I love this little tool! Thank you!!

Yes girl, I went to predominantly huhwight schools from grade 3 onward, so I feel you! xx
Yes, I remember the foil on ends all too well but it’s what we had at the time. I’m so very thrilled to have found your channel showing a better way to secure beads onto hair. Thank you!
You are a hair-saver! Thanks for the tip. Definitely going to try this on my locs.
Thank you!!! I finally feel comfortable putting beads in my daughters hair. Her hair is so long and I didn’t want to do anything to break her hair off like the rubber bands. 👍🏾🙌🏾
Thank you! I'm thrilled to have found your video because I've wanted to add beads to my sisterlocs for a long time. I just looked up the fold over pinch bails and found them!! What a terrific idea your mom found instead of elastics! Have a blessed day!
I can't believe that u made a video perfectly tailored to my dilemma and at the exact time I wanted to know. I typed this in search and you came up. This only further confirms why I'm subscribed to you. Keep the great videos coming!😊
Genius. Never seen or heard of this helpful accessory!
I got to hunt some of these down!! I was watching your beads in the last video and was thinking about my childhood and the sound of beads while walking down the hall in elementary school. Thank you for the reminder/update on an old style all grown up version. Lol and yes it was very helpful!!
I love the leaf thingys! Great video!

You can purchase a bead reamer to smooth out the inside of wooden beads. Thanks for the information regarding fold-over bails as a substitute for rubber bands. I also have memories of tin foil being used to keep the beads in place.
omg I love this definitely will help with the breakage on the ends of the hair
OMG such a cute childhood photo
This is brilliant! I will surely look for them! I never saw these before!
LOL! My mom had me with the tin foil too! My beads were still poppin tho, foil and all. Couldn't tell me nothin when I had them in. Finished the vid: so helpful!! definitely doing this sometime soon!

I'm definitely gonna try this out. My mom never really knew how to do my hair, so I never got any of the cute hairstyles as a kid, so I've been trying the adult versions of some of them for this project your ends challenge. Keep up the bomb ass work girl, and keep making it happen in March!
This lewk is everything 😍
This is brilliant and cute! Yes, my mom used the foil too girl.
I grew up putting foil on my beaded braid too, I'm in my 40's. This new product is so cute I have to look it up on the internet. Thank you.

My twists always unravel and I've been looking for a solution that's better than waiting for the ends of my hair to dry in clips. This is a great help, Thanks!
I’m going to do a faux fringe on my sisterlocks using this method. Thank you for sharing.

What is it called?
Thank you so much for posting this! I searched for this about a year ago and I could find nothing about "without rubber bands". I just braided my daughter's hair last night and I finally came up with an ingenious way. I folded the ends back over the last bead and braided it back on to her hair to secure the beads... but Im good at braiding the little bitty short ends to give as much length as possible. I would love to try your little doo-hickeys! Where did you get them? I'm hoping that I can find something similar. I do have some little plastic balls with teeth in them that open and you can close them on the end but but they still slip off if you don't bunch a lot of hair in it. BTW.. I also do my best with maintaing my daughters edges..shes only 8 and was born with light edges just like yours.
This is soo cute! I can see poking myself in the eye with the pointy end😂 I’m sure they have other shapes. I love this.
Currently watching this while I have rubber-bands in to secure my beads lol. This is a better & safer way!
Thanks, I've never seen these. I will be using these.
I work at a hair store and we just got these in and I didn’t know how they worked so thank you so much! Now I can explain it to my customers

So…first of all I love you! lol I never knew I would be able to find another person that speaks sarcasm as well as me. Love your wit and word play to keep my attention bc…self diagnosed add 😩…anyway-I’ve been up for over an hour looking for an alternative for my 2 year old and I’m soo glad I found this-her dad really likes when the braider puts beads in and I’m like…no. But he doesn’t get it. I’m so glad I found this! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing (and thanks to your mama as well lol). Definitely didnt know it was an alternative to rubber bands for securing beads.
Thank you sooo much for this video! My mom used something similar, but I have never been able to find them. I honestly thought I imagined it. LOL
Jamaica Ave native, I’m about to head there now and try to get it because I really disliked using rubber bands. Thank you for this!!!
Thank you. I needed this so much. I have been looking for a solution for my daughter’s hair. She loves the beads, but I don’t like the rubber bands.
Anyone know what these are called or have a link to the product? Having a hard time finding them. Thanks!
Thank you!!
How cool is that thank you for sharing
So cool cause I’m getting my hair done on Friday so I’m going to tell the lady to do you like you can love you
Cool and yes I too grew up with the aluminium foil ends of my beads.. Lol
Mind. Blown.
It's a hair twist tie I love
😲 Game changer!
Thank you so much for this video! I have only recently started twisting my daughter’s hair (she’s 15 months), and I’m still struggling to get the strands to stay twisted (especially at night… she refuses to keep the bonnet on, and rarely stays on the pillow). If I do a flat twist, they stay fine, but those mini twists are stubborn, and I have to retwist come morning. Her hair also shrinks like crazy, so two birds with one stone… we “need” the bead. But I would never put a rubber band in her hair, so I was on the hunt for how to do it. I knew there had to be a way, and up comes your video. Thank you! I’m wondering if bread ties would do in a pinch? I feel like after the ends are twisted about it, and the tie is folded, it could mostly be tucked inside the beads… creative juices are flowing. Will be testing that theory soon.
I like the way you do it where I come from in Guatemala we use It but beads goes in different cultures
I've looked I can't find the name of the leaf.......do u not have a name or link

Good content! Thank you!
Sis, 0:50 😂😂 had me weak. Love you. Love your Share. ❤
I also used tin foil for my son's beads when he was younger but I would use it to slide the beads on and then I would remove the foil and secure them with a rubber band. It was really easy I must say, also fast.
My mom used sliver foil too!
I used sandpaper to smooth the inside of the wooden beads, and they glide through the braids or twists without snagging your hair
90s baby here and I definitely grew up wearing beads with tin foil 😂 I’m doing crochet box braids and have no rubber bands and I don’t want to wait until tomorrow so I was headed back to my youth
Lol!! BigUp to Queens,NY (Laurelton)massive! I too had to rock the foil tip beads as a little girl. Got in trouble if the foil and beads fell out 😬
I'm using foil in my daughter's hair right this second. The rubber band way was hard and I don't have the tool u mentioned. I will look for it.
My mom did the same using foil at the ends when I was a kid.
Yes I remember tin foil being used too!
Niice now I can rebrand my hair 🥹

Great video! I’ve been planning to purchase both beads & leaf bails for quite some time and it would be highly appreciated if you could inform me of ur bead hole size. I currently have beads with a hole size of 10 mm and overall size of 20mm in my cart. The bails I plan to purchase are 30 mm X 6mm and I’m not sure if the sizing of the beads and bails are compatible. Please help! 🙏🏽
