Natural dyeing sheep rugs with spruce bark, homemade, DIY, restore sheepskin

We have four old IKEA sheep rugs that have been used outdoors in all kinds of weather for over 10 years. They now have mold spots that won't come off in the wash, and the wool is gray and dull. We decided to try and revive these old, worn-out sheepskins using natural, homemade methods: washing, dyeing/treatment with spruce bark decoction, and finally brushing. The result is both better than expected and a big surprise. The old sheepskins change color from grayish-white to reddish-brown shades in the sun, and the mold spots disappear completely. They smell wonderful and look at least as good as they did when new. Maybe they'll last another 10 years?
