NATO Anti-Submarine Exercise Dynamic Mongoose 2024

Coverage of NATO Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) exercise Dynamic Mongoose 2024 which takes place from April 29 to May 10 in the North Atlantic Ocean between Norway and Iceland.
Sweden participates in a NATO maritime exercise for the first time since its accession as a full member of NATO on March 7, with Royal Swedish Navy submarine HMS Gotland.
In this video, Naval News interviews Commander, Submarines NATO U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Thomas Wall, Rear Admiral Joaquin Ruiz Escagedo, Commander of SNMG1 and LTCD V. Moberg, Commanding Officer of HMS Gotland.
=====================
Exercise Dynamic Mongoose is an annual anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) exercise designed to prepare NATO maritime crews to respond and adapt to any type of threat from seabed to space. It is an opportunity to train submarine crews to evade and respond from deep below the surface, while simultaneously training surface vessels and air assets to detect submarines and address the threat below the waves.
Allied units from Canada, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States will conduct this highly complex submarine exercise led by Commander, Submarines NATO (COMSUBNATO) between Norway and Iceland in the expanse of water known as the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom-Norway (GIUK-N) Gap. The cold environmental conditions at this time of year in the region present their own set of challenges that crews must overcome in addition to the exercise serials.

    Swedes are almost always a bit reserved and shy but when it comes to knowledge and capability that can even make them more focused and they take themselves and things very seriously. They don't say much but they walk the walk instead of talking.

    So I was looking it up btw ,Canada operates as many subs as Spain in Nato ,that is to say 4 ,only Germany and Italy with more diesel subs,and other than the US only Britain and France with nuclear subs . Canada with more subs than say the Netherlands , actually about as many as Poland Romania and Portugal have combined . and theres countries like Finland &Denmark that dont have subs,with respect to those countries,( not to mention are quite a number of small countries or that are landlocked ) so Canada actually in about the top rank,or rather 2nd tier re submarines, but not 3rd 4th ,or 5th tier, and in the top 5 or 6 countries in Nato for subs, indeed for its Navy

    @@egemensentin yes though those are somewhat different cases,with the tensions going back decades if not longer between Greece and Turkey , both and Greece in particular are armed up more than they would be otherwise ,no way a country, relatively small, the size of Greece 10 milion, would have that number of subs normally would have 2 maybe 3 subs at most,not 10 . and Turkey under present govt and for last 10 yrs or more, nationalistic ,and or militaristic shall we say , so spending higher than might be otherwise .so both countries kinda have what one could term asterisks

    Still, you don't see Ukrainians sinking submarines only surface ships. That doesn't mean Russian subs are not in the Black Sea. Norway is "blue water" territory not the Black Sea. This exercise is exactly what NATO needs in this area. I'm sure they'll eventually get to the UUV and USV exercises, (Baltics) but right now, those Russians subs are out there off of Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
