I SAW ON TWITTER YOU ARE COMING BACK JAY. YOU HAVE 3 MOVIES READY TO BE EDITED. HIP HIP HOORAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun Fact: Audrey's boyfriend Jack is played by William Zabka, who played Johnny Lawrence in the first two *"Karate Kid"* films and the *"Cobra Kai"* TV series. He also played Greg Larsen in *"PYTHON"* (as a Police Deputy) - co-starring with Dana Barron (the original Audrey Griswold) - and *"PYTHON 2"* (as a CIA "Black Project" agent).
Pastel toilet papers were a thing as far back as the 1950's. You can find some still available unopened on online auctions. I recall pink, blue, orange, yellow, green and purple. Basically all the colors you'd associate with Spring/Easter were represented. There's several old commercials advertising it. Not only was it colored, but they also started making them scented and adding lotions/aloe/etc. to them for awhile there

Yep, and it was not unusual for most people to have a committed color scheme in their bathrooms, to the point where there was actually a market for various pastel shades of t.p.

I remember seeing pink and blue tp when I was a kid and yup, your right it they were scented.
This has always been my go to sequel rather than the much preferred family friendly Christmas Vacation. European Vacation preserved the raunchiness of the original and just felt like it was more for adults, where as Christmas Vacation felt like it could have been a cartoon for kids.

I wholeheartedly concur! You nailed it re: the tone, and as a kid around the time this hit HBO, airing incessantly, I’ll always have an appreciation for this film, even though there are those that consider it the lesser of the trilogy.

my Nana liked it to match each bathroom...pink in one, peach in another. I think they found out the dyes werent great for people to be rubbing on their bits (have no idea how they discovered this, but I'm also amazed that a link between usage of dusting powder after a bath, and uterine or urinary cancers was discovered) and stopped making them for the most part. Seems to have gone the way of those ornamental soaps everyone had in a guest bathroom (I used one from Crabtree and Evelyn that I can still remember smelled amazeballs but my mother wanted to unalive me) that you weren't supposed to use.
I'm so happy to see someone finally do a reaction to my personal favorite Vacation movie! And it's so cool that you met Jason Lively (IMO the best Rusty and star of another of my fave films)!
I always thought this was the best Vacation movie of the series.
R.I.P. Dana Hill (Audrey) and Robbie Coltrane (Man in bathroom -England scenes)
R.I.P Robbie Coltrane. He's the guy who comes into the bathroom as Clark leaves.
Hey Jay, did you give on this channel? You were definitely gaining traction man!
My favorite Vacation movie is definitely Christmas Vacation. Absolutely hilarious and my family watches it every year around Christmas.

Thanks for watchig this one, Jay. I'm sad to see you didn't enjoy it as much as the others. This is my favorite of the franchise. I believe it was because this was my first look at Europe that I can remember. All the sight that were in the movie just made me see that there was another world I was unaware of. Especially the nudity in establishments that weren't just "titty bars." I guess the jokes were funny to me because Clark never saw them coming. That is his M.O. LOL Keep them coming and can't wait for the others.
Good eye, that's Robbie Coltrane who did play Hagrid in all the Harry Potter films.
This is actually my favorite one.

It's on my list. It's a lengthy list at this point, but it's on there!
Yeah, family trips always have points where the kids don’t want to be around the parents, and even the parents don’t want to be around the kids…. So they let them do things on their own, within certain boundaries, etc..
Hah, you called Rusty striking out on his own! Great reaction :)
Pound for pound European will always be my favorite National Lampoon’s Vacation movie…watched the HECK outta the VHS growing up.
The Dude who came into the bathroom when the Grisswalds first night in England also did an English movie called "Nuns on a Run" hilarious movie
i’m always shocked that this sequel gets no love online (It had a awesome painting looking theatrical poster/VHS cover art) for a follow up sequel it’s strong not at all family friendly (Seen it very young) i personally love it! The kids were perfectly cast it feels like a proper continuation from the original film. RIP Dana Hill super underrated voice over actress that did a lot of 80’s/90’s iconic cartoons (Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop , Duckman, Jetsons: The Movie etc. (I remember hearing about her death at the time it’s truly heartbreaking she was young and so many children of the 80’s/90’s know her voice maybe not her name but, her legacy lives on
Actually, Night of the Creeps doesn't get talked about enough. Met Lively last year at a signing, dude was awesome.
I highly recommend The Sure Thing from 1985 starring John Cusack. Highly underrated

I grew up in Wisconsin as did my parents, however my folks were world travelers. After they retired they would spend three months a year living in the South of France. My Father passed away 6 years ago but my Mother still goes to France every year. She will take me, my sister or brother sometimes. We do have a certain accent that screams Mid-Western America. So there's been times when we are at a cafe or restaurant in Paris and a waiter or staff member will make a comment in French about one of us or our "Fargo" sounding accent. When they return to the table you should see the look on their faces when my Mom speaks PERFECT French to them. The service gets much better at that point.
I remember seeing this theatrically and being very disappointed, the beret on the Eiffel Tower was the best joke although Eric Idle is always great.

Clark's character is very different in this one.... In the others he has bad luck all the time and everything goes wrong for him, but in this one he doesn't really have bad luck, he gives everyone around him bad luck and gives them problems..... Clark is actually more like Eddie in this one, I wonder if it's because Eddie is absent in this one
This has always been my favorite of the Vacation films.
I need to watch this movie again. Ballard Berkeley! There are so many great British actor cameos in this movie that I never appreciated when I was younger.
Rusty was also in a Gunsmoke movie, where he played a character named Rusty.

The National Lampoon movie you've GOT to see is the first one: "National Lampoon's Animal House"! That's the most classic of all of 'em. I never thought much of the "Vacation" movies, but "Animal House' rocks! It's better than 99% of the movies that imitated it in the late 70s and throughout the 80s (and even to this day!). There were a lot of European vacation movies and TV specials at the time, notably one for Family Ties that was made into a TV movie that year. I could have sworn the driving in Montreal was on the left side.
Was just thinking if you want a movie from the 80s that has little reactions is Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks. It is 80s over the top raunchy comedy at its finest.

My favorite scene is when Rusty is about to get some just as Clark gets into the fight in the German beer garden. She's a hottie.😍🥰😋 Vacation 2015 isn't all that great. The best part is "my future ex-wife" Christina Applegate plays Rusty's wife. My list: 1. Christmas 2. Vacation 3. European 4. Last Wages
8:30 Not uncommon in older hotels, though most will have been remodelled to en suite(and, especially in the case of Britannia hotels, fallen into disrepair and make you long for communal bathrooms that actually get cleaned and maintained. If you do ever come to the UK, do not stay in one of those shitholes, for your mental and physical wellbeing) for a long time now, generally making rooms that were already not massive even smaller. 10:15 The guy crashed into here is Ballard Berkley, whose career in film ran from 1930 until 1989 (his final credited role, the voice of the Head of the Army in The BFG, an animated film, came out nearly 2 years after he died aged 83). But he's probably best known for playing Major Gowen in Fawlty Towers, a slightly senile, borederline alcoholic but mostly affable retired Army officer who's been a resident at the hotel for 7 years. 18:25 The movie came out in '85, and the pyramid wasn't completed (and open to the public) until '89. IIRC it may not even have been under construction during filming. It's part of a large complex that was designed to better cope with visitor numbers. 22:35 Germans overdoing it again. Just like the time they went to Poland in '39. And France in '40. And... 28:25 And just think, back then, car alarms were not common, especially on a pretty low-end Fiat. 29:52 One of my favourite TV/home video overdubs
I've always found that Europeans like this one more than Americans because it hits both American stereotypes of Europe so well but at the same time the Griswolds are just an exaggerated version of what we actually experienced with American tourists back then. It's so relatable on both levels. But I'm not sure that the American audience really had that same connection for the most part.

Hi Jay! My favorite Vacation movie is Christmas Vacation. Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie is especially funny in that movie and he and Chevy Chase play so well off of each other. I am not much a fan of "European Vacation" either. I did not like at all what the filmmakers did to the character of Audrey and how they made fun of her eating disorder. Dana Hill, who played Audrey, actually died in 1996 due to an eating disorder (I think). I also think that Rusty was a spoiled brat in this. I do think it's cool that you had a chance to meet Jason Lively though. There are two bright spots in this movie: First is Beverly DeAngelo's performance of course as Ellen Griswold. She kills it in every one of these Vacation movies. Eric Idle, of course from Monty Python fame, is the second bright spot in this movie. His character as the tourist who is always getting accidently hurt by Clark is absolutely hilarious and Idle's delivery is so deadpan. I have never seen the 2015 Vacation film. I do recommend seeing "Captain Ron" from 1992 starring Kurt Russell and Martin Short. It's a fun comedy about a family who inherits a boat and hires a boat captain (with a hilarious over the top performance by Kurt Russell) to take the boat home. There is some absolutely beautiful scenery in this film and you would love it. I really hope you react to it. I haven't seen any other reactors react to "Captain Ron".

I think this movie is better than X-mas vacation, which is the worst, but not as good as original. While a lot of jokes are obvious, there are some jokes that just stand alone as hilarious. The game show host macking on Audrey (a spoof on Richard Dawson, Family Feud), the Eric Idle bits, staying with German strangers, the leiderhosen dance/fight. That said, there were some big misses. The stuff in the English hotel was meh, all of Paris was meh (but good music with the Louvre scene), the stuff in Italy was just absurd & meh. But, like, I don't recall any single scene in the X-mas movie that was as funny as the overly polite British / Eric Idle joke in European vacation.
