Iheard this song for the first time about 25 minutes ago. By the end of it I knew this was my favorite song. It resonates within my soul. I've listened 3 times to it now and will continue for a while. It's inexplicable how such a song can emerge out of nowhere and touch me so deeply.

I may have posted thus before but I am dying, and I am getting my funeral arrangements made so my kids don't have to. I have decided to tell the story of my life and send messages to my loved ones through the music played during the visitation. the people receiving messages will know when they hear certain songs. This song was chosen tell tell my story and to help apologise for who I am.

My condolences to you and your family. Lost my mom to complications from Alzheimer's in 2011. While her slow demise was heart wrenching, her passing released her from the pain she suffered in the final stages. I still think about her several times every day. The images of her that I hold in my mind are when she was vibrant in her 20s, as well as when she'd laugh. So when thoughts of missing her arise, I reason that now she is whole and happy again. The heartache never leaves, but one way or another one finds a way to cope. May the good memories of your mom take you to your special place of solace.

Hit 7 months yesterday so it looks like we’re on the same timing. Former heroin/fentanyl/cocaine/meth addict. Had a great first few you months and spent the day before hitting 7 months crying my eyes out and wondering if I’ll ever be able to just wake up in the morning without wondering if I’d be better off dead. But I got through it that day with the help of people who love me and spent this morning snuggled with the woman of my dreams that I have been chasing for 10 long years. I don’t know if life ever gets more “clear” or easier but I think if you stay on the right path you at least get occasional moments like I had this morning where it could not possibly be any better. Whether you hit 7 months sober, fell off and restarted and are back in the battle of active addiction I hope you’re still out there and doing alright!

I have been divorced for one year and have sole custody of 7 beautiful children. This song strikes me with so much truth, and when I feel alone, I still feel that there are others who feel an understanding to this song and I feel so much less alone. I am so grateful to Nathaniel Rateliff (my fellow Coloradan), and although he will never know this, I wish him the best for what he has given me with this song.

August of 2020 I had to sell my home and get rid of most of my stuff to move in with my parents because they are elderly. Mom has dementia, dad deaf and nearly blind. (It's alright) My boy who was 28, lived with me at the time. (It's alright) He struggled with addiction and so as we made this move from one state to another he knew he had to do this on his own. It was time. (It's alright) Dec. 2020 he went to work and someone decided to rob the place. Shot and killed my son. I was not alright. I felt my life slowly being drained from me. Air being sucked out of my lungs and my soul numb. Laying on the floor crying out to God to please help me find my strength. I was not alright. Slowly but surely I could breathe again. Found some energy to smile. Looked to see the blessings right in front of me. I find joy in watching my daughter wobble as she is carrying my soon to be 3rd granddaughter. I laugh as my grandgirls run and play. I cherish that I still have both of my parents who have been married 61 years. I am alright. Life gives us punches but we have strength to bounce back. We just have to want it. We are alright.

It ain't alright, the hardness of my head Now, close your eyes and spin around Say, hard times you could find, it Ain't the way that you want But it's still alright Late at night, do you lay around wondering? Counting all the lines, ain't so funny now Say, times are hard, you get this far, but it Ain't the way that you want I'll be damned if this old man don't Start to count on his losses But it's still alright They say you learn a lot out there How to scorch and burn Only have to bury your friends Then you'll find it gets worse Standing out on the ledge With no way to get down You start praying for wings to grow Oh, baby, just let go I ain't alright, you keep spinning out ahead It was cold outside when I hit the ground Said, I could sleep here, forget all the fear It will take time to grow Maybe I don't know Hey, tonight if you think about it Remembering all the times that you pointed out Say, the glass is clear but all this fear Starts a-leaving a mark Your idle hands are all that stands From your time in the dark But it's still alright

@@evalampman761 I appreciate that, I posted that when I was pretty depressed, Nathaniel and his band are just great. Finding people on the internet who actually care enough to reach out and post something as well is very cool. Thank you.

I'm always saying to people that I truly believe music is the language of the soul. It doesn't matter where you live, what you look like, what your status, problems, joys or sorrows are...music will speak to each and every one of us. Doesn't matter whether it's accompanied by words or not. It's the frequencies. Even deaf people that have never 'heard' a sound their whole life are touched by it.

'Your idle hands are all that stands from your time in the dark...but it's still alright' This hits home so much and I thank you from one musician to another for this line. Discovered you recently and listened to all your material. Everything you've produced is from the heart and you can hear it. I smell longevity for your career and I hope I'm right. Take care and keep it up.
