If Nate Florence wanted to, he could land a job doing commentary for surf contests after he retires. Probably one of the most articulate people when it comes to talking about surfing.

just doesn't seem to be a competition surfer, really, which is cool. I think in a few years he'll be one of the big name big wave guys.

That was awesome. I think Nathan puts out some of the best information on the north shore. He's always sharing knowledge which I've found has really improved my surfing. JOB the GOAT @ 🐐 Pipe! That is an amazing claim and such an honor for Jamie. He deserves it! Pyzel is the master board shaper for this Era. If you haven't checked him out watch Nick Van "Froth" Rupp from Portugal. He rides Pyzel boards on insane big waves. He's got a really good vlog. He's a little like Nathan where he's super laid back and trys to share some know along the way. He's been helping this kid from Ireland ride Nazare and other big spots. The Irish kid is going to be a big name in monster wave surfing in the future.

I think what makes Ivan different than Nathan & John John is Ivan is always surfing on different boards. He shreds everything. He seems like the Soul Surfer of the legendary family. Watching their mom film the 3 before the Dan Hui event was a special moment. I'm glad they shared that with us. She has to be a super proud mama! She's done an incredible job raising the 3 on her own!

And Ivan is a goofy, so we get frontside Pipe with him (and Koa). Such a different perspective! But, of course, they're front at Backdoor.

Yep. All 3 brothers have totally different styles. Ivan the style monger, Nat the powerhouse and John the technician. John ability to read the wave is crazy af.

❤ so great. also, not that it matters, but i am as well a proponent of the 'one board' for all waves, allowing for 2 efficient sizes (maybe 3 if super privileged) and if that includes a 'long' board (although i honestly believe everything is possible on a 6'6", if well shaped of course), and duplicates (backups), making life so much easier and less complicated, and more economical. furthermore, i am convinced that riding and building affinity and comfort with one board will only benefit and advance surfing techniques and styles, control, and wave characteristic focus in all waves and all conditions :)

Hot tip: If you really want to get good at pipe and catch a ton of waves, then paddle out 30min before sunset. You'll get a whole hour at spitting pipe with hardly any competition, especially when its been firing for days on end and all the hot rods are tired and hungry. Just make sure u dont use this strat on a rising swell. Nothing like a freight train set rolling through 30 min afyer sunset

Nathan definitely has the charisma in the family. John John is the quiet guy and Ivan....man I think eventually he could end up being the best surfer of the 3, but he's super camera shy, so probably no vlogs coming from him. Although if he did start making videos I think he'd instantly have a ton of subscribers to his channel .

I agree. Ivan is without a doubt the more interesting of the 3 for me. He can blend his skateboarding experience, atitude and mindset with his surfing technic and be really unique.
