When Nathan confronts her at the school that was a fabulous bit of acting on the part of Kevin McGarry and Erin Krakow. He conveys his weariness with trying to win her heart and also the fear that he may be permanently losing her this time. She shows how upset she is with leaving him, her career and the town she has come to love. I think it finally hits her that this is her last chance to make the choice to be with Nathan. Her relationship with Lucas no longer feels safe, it feels like a trap she has contrived for all three of them. This heartbreaking scene may be the best piece of acting I have seen on this show.

@LucyRosinina-ek2mi I guess if you look at this strictly as a Nathan vs Lucas and which of these men YOU prefer, we could all find something about either of these regarding their character which would appeal to us, or not. I love both of these guys. Each brings to the story of Hope Valley something good though different in the way they bring it. As for the story of Elizabeth, the main character, the question is, which one suits HER priorities. She left the city to come to a pioneer home. She left wealth and handsome wealthy “suitable” men to come to Hope Valley to live a more simple life contributing to the life of a small town. When he spoke to Elizabeth (remember they had remained close friends), though he may have had underlying feelings of love, he asked her what SHE wanted. She had already poured her heart out to him about why she loved Hope Valley and the details that made it so. He had seen the trepidation on her face while everyone is jubilant around her and Lucas. He was sensitive to her feelings, thus the question, “What do you want?” He apologized later and as Elizabeth said, “You were just trying to help,” Like I said, I love Lucas’s character, but he missed some very significant clues about where Elizabeth’s heart is. She moved away from wealth and preferred the simplicity of Hope Valley living in her simple home next to her friend. He tried to buy her a grand house (out of his desire to please her, which is a good thing. It just wasn’t what she wanted). He wants to make his mark on the world, seeking business, more wealth, etc ( he had a good heart for what and how he would use the money for. I am sure he would have continued to help people) but seeking all these things is the world Elizabeth had left. I have seen many Lucas fans say that Nathan is boring. But then, Elizabeth must be boring too because they both want similar things and they both are keenly aware of what means the most to each other. And they are friends and friends sometimes will make you face your fears or make you face the truth which is what he did with Elizabeth. If they had written Lucas as wanting the same things Elizabeth has shown she desires in her heart, I may have been firmly in Lucas’s corner right now making the same case for him. I like both these guys and they could have written either one suitable to her.

I don't see where Lucas wanting to build a nicer house was any different than Jack who also bought land & lumber & the land wasn't in town. Also, Lucas has said many, many times he wants to raise a family in HV. Lucas donated the building for the towns library, took Elizabeth to Virginia Wolfe's book reading, took her on an air balloon ride, went horseback riding, had a picnic by the pond, encouraged the writing of her book, gave her a birthday party in her home, etc, all things Nathan could do, but couldn't even get her to dinner. Yes, Lucas did other things for the town like the Christmas Festival, town dinner & these were appreciated. And I'm sorry, but Nathan is boring. He doesn't like Christmas crowds & he himself said he doesn't really like fishing. Hopefully he'll play with Little Jack.....guess you'll have to wait & see.

The problem is the "Lucas"that has been presented in season 8,the writers changed his character to make him fit Elisabeth.He was not ready for a family in Season 7,he said it himself,all of the sudden he want to marry a single mother in season 8,he had an adventurous side and all of the sudden,Hope Valley is everything for him,no consistency in the character.Same stuff with Elisabeth,in Season 8,she was like a school girl who has her first crush,Little Jack is sick she left him to go for a ride with Lucas,she wore a dress for a diner with him,she says she doesn't feel herself but she still goes,things that would have bothered her where now acceptable.Lucas was a bit manipulative in its approach towards Elisabeth: he sent her manuscript without her permission,she get mad and he said this is what she wanted; he made her believe he knew Virginia wolf's books although he has never read one ,he organized dates in disguise when she says she doesn't want a date,constantly pushing her boundaries.The real Elizabeth would have said no to Lucas in Season 8. If Nathan doesn't really like fishing i don't see where is the problem,it means he is willing to do something he doesn't like to please another person,he can sacrifice himself and find a compromise.And i don't think Elisabeth loves it either.Nathan and Elisabeth sees eye to eye where it matters to build a long lasting relationship.In a couple people sometimes love different things:one love summer,the other winter,one the soccer,the other hate it...that doesn't mean they are not meant for each other.I also think the character of Nathan is like an onion with a lot of layers and there is a lot to discover about him,who knew for example he could draw,in the first episode of the 10th season,he drew a dog on a paper because he wanted to pass an advertisement for adoption. We will see how the writers will approach things.@sharonnorton2708.

Well said! Her Heart what it truly wants Simple life in Hope Valley!! Elizabeth is just that...each person has a calling and Lucas has that calling for politics- is a good man and heart for making a differencetoo..However both Nathan and Elizabeth has same calling, noble one, to serve and protect & also make a difference in a community- Hope Valley is the lucky recipient!!Core and wholesome story of The Book! Teacher & the Mountie!

I honestly chose Lucas back in season 8. However, they had a lot of romance, but she has never allowed him to have any depth with her. They have often stayed on the surface. Never really getting into difficult topics. She definitely loves him, but won't let him fully in. Going back and rewatching scenes, I think she was actually afraid of having another great love, because she might lose it. She thinks that Nathan would become a great love, so she pushed him away. I don't think he is a great love yet, she just sees that he can be. She has a deep friendship with Nathan, but never allowed him in enough for romance. He carried a heaviness towards her because of his guilt. Once he confessed that Jack took his place, their relationship became so much closer and the negative tension was worked through and gone. She really hasn't let anyone in the way that she let Jack in. Not yet. I think she will find depth with Nathan. The simple things actually can become very romantic with your best friend, when you fully let them get close to you. They have a really solid foundation. Now they can explore romance. Hopefully they will do a good job portraying that though. They have to be able to move past this early connection and turn it into something deeper. Also, Elizabeth never let Nathan in enough to romance her, yet. So it can still be really sweet going forward.

I don't like Lucas, think he might be the one who sent Hargraves, so it would possibly cause problems between Nathan and Elizabeth, but I don't think that scheme will work because Bill, along with Rosemary to get to the bottom of why he was there. Elizabeth told Lucas she was going to the wedding with Nathan and Lucas had the power of governor to try and cause trouble.

This is a nice compilation but the music is abrasively loud!!!!!!!!😢😮😢

I disliked this scene and in fact I didn't like season 10 and don't like how season 11 looks like and going forward with what they are doing to Elizabeth. It has become a soap drama and no longer a well written story. The only way fans will be happy is that they have somebody like Jack Thornton and not Nathan.
