River, you touched so many people and so many souls, you certainly touched Natalie's. We miss you so much. This lyric is completely my thoughts on him. "Why don't you let him be? He's gone, we know. Give his mother and his father peace".

Great video. This is my favorite song of all time…IMO the best pop song ever written and recorded. That’s not hyperbole.

I wish more people would post self-recorded videos with this “High Level of Quality” on KZread. This is the only watchable video I’ve seen of “River” live. I love this song which reflects why I am so glad that politicians will never have the ability to change people like musicians do. Thank You!

Natalie gets so annoyed at people with their devices, she calls them knowing nothing positive gets recorded. It is all Natalie can do to tolerate people recording her, so out of respect most people just don't bring devices or, sit quietly and just listen.

I never really understood the "one of ours" bit, or liked it. It feels divisive, and a bit precious. Maybe I'm just not in to the concept of celebrity. However, that is a quibble. This is a truly beautiful song.

@@w0mblemania i was scrolling down thru the comments....and found one of mine. lol yeah idk about the "one of ours" it would almost have to be referring to being a performer? because they weren't close in age, she was 11ish years older than him. i mean i could say he was "one of mine" since were are within 2 years.

@@azzureasthesky 'One of ours' means means 'one of our tribe' - a person who the others in said tribe connected with, resonated with - in the arts, in the sharing of certain belief systems, in the every day joys of living, etc. Yes, someone who was part of their 'soul tree.' It's one of many beautiful verses in this song written for a special soul who moved countless people during his brief time here on Earth.

Young and strong Hollywood son In the early morning light This star fell down On Sunset Boulevard Young and strong beautiful one We embraced so close Is gone Was torn away Let the youth of America mourn Include him in their prayers Let his image linger on Repeat it everywhere With candles, with flowers He was one of ours One of ours Why don't you let him be? He's gone We know Give his mother and his father peace Your vulture's candor Your casual slander You murder his memory He's gone We know It's nothing but a tragedy Lay to rest your soul and body Lay beside your name Lay to rest your rage Your hunger and amazing grace With candles, with flowers You were one of ours One of ours I saw cameras expose your life I heard rumors explode with lies I saw children in tears Cry and crowd around the site Of where you had collapsed that day Where your last breath and word Had been sighed Where your heart had burst Where you had died I saw how they were lost in grieving All half believing you were gone The loss and pain of it Crime and shame of it You were gone It was such a nightmare raving, "how could we save him from himself?"

Which of your words do you think are the lyrics or are they your thoughts? That's not how the song goes, other than Hollywood Son. And we watched him since we was a child. Hollywood son is an artistic way to describe who he was.
