    @@attila195 Natilie makes a point to hire female musicians and they are pretty good. Her band members stay with her for years. I expect those long spider fingers cover a couple of frets. Seems the singer is stretching out some to match the music.

    There's a bunch of videos of them playing Carnival and Wonder. And especially with Carnival, Jen Turner never seems to play it exactly the same way twice. Taking sort of a jam band or jazz approach. That's what takes real talent.

    The great thing about this ensemble that Natalie put together was how she let everyone just be free and explore their instruments, which is evident with every different improvised version that I’ve heard

    lol People dont get how good Jen is its not just her tone lol.Jen Turner is the best guitarist of the 90s. Tasteful in the pocket Genius. Solos are the best and nobody noticed them cause they were woven into the songs so masterfully like they just went along. Dont mean to compare her but shes Hendrix Gilmour and herself. If someone want to learn how to be a guitar player in todays world you must study Jen Turner.

    I'll never forget the first time I heard these songs when Tiger Lily released. First thought "who the hell is playing guitar??! It's like a whole other song happening in unison"

    They have the looseness of a 90's band rather than the conventionality of a 50's band, the simplicity of a 60's band, the tightness of a 70's band, or the electronic innovation and hookiness of an 80's band.

    Wow, I've been searching for this performance online for a long, long time. I remembered watching this on MTV when it first aired (I was 22), and was absolutely blown away by Jen Turner's guitar playing.

    They exist , but sadly they are Lady Gaga, Billy Eyelash and "place random song of the week singer here" Todays generation would never accept this as "their music".. I remember being a kid and listening to this when it first came out and simply loving "pop/alternative" and "rock/alternative" there was so much diversity on alt radio.. today's radio is pure garbage

    The current crop of spandex and sequined covered bodysuit canned music ‘superstars” can’t touch this real music. I love how Natalie let her band rip on this album and in the live performances.

    @The Artist I aren't actually knocking Kate Bush (or at least didn't intend to). I agree that some artists (like Kate Bush and Natalie Merchant) produce quality rather than quantity. Too much touring takes its toll on the voice, but it is a shame for the fans when an artist doesn't play live at all. I just wish that I liked her voice more, as I appreciate the songs. The same with Joanna Newsome.
