"Drove the neighbors insane."‽ I would be in heaven if Jen was jamming all day everyday in my neighbors garage. At 22 years old she wrote and played some of the most interesting and original guitar parts I've ever heard. I've been playing for 30 years and I'm still in awe of her genius at so young an age.

If Natalie could play guitar this is what would have come out. That's what makes Jen so amazing.... She played the feelings of Natalie into the songs. When this album come out I was (and still am) a massive SRV fan & I remember thinking wow who the fk is playing on this album. In every song on this album it's connected though the words and Jen's amazing guitar playing from Where I go, 7 years or I may know the word. The guitar work under pins all of Natalie's brilliance beautifully. BTW I may know the word........ It's a master peace!

I was a 25 year old Metal head when this album came out. I heard *Wonder* on the radio, and I recognized the singer from 10,000 Maniacs, and my ears perked up… but I felt weird digging it because I was going thru a Thrash Metal phase and wasn’t supposed to be sidetracked by this “easy listening” crap that Barnes & Noble would be playing over their P.A. system… Then I heard Carnival, and I immediately recognized the singer’s voice from that other song I heard - but the tone of the guitar just sucked me in, so I had to go out and find this album immediately and make the purchase, and I’m *SO* glad I did… Thank you SO much for uploading this video. I tried for years trying to find videos of Jennifer Turner but always fell short - finally after umpteen years, Jennifer pops in my head again, and I do a quick search, ET VOILÀ!

The interaction between them is so relaxed and natural.Tiger Lily is way up on my all time favorite albums. It's Natalie's masterpiece but it wouldn't have been what it became without Jen's brilliant guitar work. I wonder how many young women she inspired to pick up a guitar and strive to be the next JT? This video has just 1 flaw. It had to end too soon.

When I heard JT solo on Carnival that is when I really knew I wanted to be a guitarist. The way she makes her PRS sing and match up with Natalie’s jazzy vocals is simply ethereal. Few bands bands of the 90’s mastered that balanced harmony.

never forget seeing Jen Turner on SNL or letterman or something - and it completely stopped me in my tracks. of course Merchant is an incredible singer/music-hero,,, - but the guitar riffs on this album,,, are sparse sometimes, other times, ebullient. no wasted space, unless space was called for. also, when i see a Paul Reed Smith guitar, i immediately remember Jen's incredible tone.

Didn't make any research til i Bought the album and yes when i saw it was a girl i said What a Feeling. Carnival Intro Guitar solo has been the one i've played the most in my life since 1995. I think Ive played it more times that Jen herself. Causee anytime i take my guitar i start warming up with carnival. I consider her unique in her style. Now im doing my research of her other works. And Natalie.. is simply awesome Voice and Beauty.

Love this interview. Tigerlily blew my mind. Jennifer used the word: Musicality. The album was soaked in musicality but it was more than that. Natalie was clearly achieving new heights and the audio quality of the record was pristine and beautiful. Like other's have said I heard the record and said "who the heck is playing guitar? He's amazing!" Imagine my delight when I see a beautiful tall young woman. In hindsight I shouldn't have been surprised because the tone and playing unique and matched the femininity of Natalie's songs. It's a "desert island" album in my book. So nice to see both of you together on a couch. Natalie: your beauty grows as you age. Jenifer: Thank you for countless hours of guitar bliss. Never got to see you two together live and that's a shame.

Some people will understand. Some will hate this, but Natalie Tigerlily tour in September or October of 1995 was my first concert after 8//9/95 when Jerry Garcia died. It could have been Phil. It could have been Bob. It could have been Bill. It was partly that Jerry died yes, but it was really that if any of those core four died, there cannot be a Grateful Dead. Specifically Phil most of all. Most bassists hope to anchor. Phil is a sail that set the GD free. I had the Natalie tickets before Jerry died. Second or third row at Cincinnati's Taft theater or Aronoff Center (don't remember which and don't live there anymore) was so beautiful. If i remember right the story at the time was that Jen never even played until she was 17 or 18. That show helped heal me.

Is Jennifer still playing? Amazing guitarist. If she was a bloke we would all know about her.

Jen! I just found footage I shot of you writing and recording and playing with Gary Dourdan and all the Danish guys from 1994 in Brooklyn. Reach out to me! Stephen Leeds (a name from the past)

Thank you for this video. Two true rock ‘n’ roll ladies. What did you study Jennifer to get that sound. Love

It's not a style I typically gravitate toward, I'm more of an Andy Gill/Jon Waddington/Frith/Ribot/Tepper/Wilson/Bewley/Buck/Easter type, but Jen remains one of my favorite guitarists ever. Her Cropperisms are so complex and yet instantly connect with my core. Every line is a wealth of informative expression. I feel smarter every time I hear her play; my brain has to make new pathways in an attempt to wrap itself around the intricate beauty of each line. She gives so much while managing not only to stay out of the way of the vocals but often bolstering the vocal melody with amazing counterpoint. I know she's long since abandoned this approach to music, but damn if she isn't a musical genius. I love Thrillionaire and I got to see her open for Johnny Marr a couple years back, which gave me the opportunity to bug her with a little appreciation.

Does anyone know the song that Jen is playing in the black and white concert footage where Natalie said: "You didn't look like the way you could play."?
