Well... this production looks...special !

I live in London and I made the trip to Paris to see this. The Premiere was last night on the 10th (eventhough this clip is from the Generale indeed). Strange production (I'm not a big fan of Coline Serreau... naf) and the costumes were well... naf too. Dark and sinister production but Dessay sang beautifully, Filianoti did rather well though his voice was tired towards the end and Paul Gay was wonderful as the Count Des Grieux. Lovely Dessay...very graceful! I'm glad I went, if only to see her!

Je pense que c'est durant la générale, donc avant le 10 Janvier 2012 et au vu de la date de mise en ligne, elle a du se dérouler avant le 9 ;)

@distefano13069609 Manon, from Jules Massenet, with stage directions from film producer Coline Serreau. It just started playing at the Bastille Opera in Paris and will stay there until mid-February. People loudly booed !

She said that for several reason. This production was originally suppose to be with Pelly and opposite Villazon. But the Opera de Paris cancelled Villazon and Pelly. Knowing that, Dessay didn't want to sing this prod anymore. The Opera de Paris forced her to sing it with Serreau as stage director. You can easily see it's not the best prod ever.

It's so sad... Why Nathalie? Don't you respect your past? To what else will you reduce yourself?

Est-ce que les jambes des hommes en corset de cuir sont attachées avec des chaînes...en plus d'avoir du tape sur la bouche? POURQUOI?

Moi aussi à la première à Bastille, j'ai conspué Coline SERREAU pour cette mise en scène de malheur... Honte sur elle, j'ai été anesthésié par sa connerie, je n'ai pas profité de l'oeuvre de Jules MASSENET, dont ça n'est plus l'anniversaire de la mort, mais la mort de l'anniversaire.

El encargado de vestuario o el de escenografía se quedó bien a gusto ... horroroso ....

regietheater at its worst, clapping at the wrong time, about the only really good thing is the makeup -- I'm guessing based on the state of her voice this was around 2008, but Ms. Dessay looks quite young here.

Ces super mâles enchaînés et partiellement de cuir vêtus, qu'ont - ils donc à faire là? Quand Manon se transforme en avant-scène du quartier du Marais! On frise le sado-maso? Faites-vous soigner (sérieusement), les metteurs en scène. Il y a péril en la demeure.

Compared with the one she did with Rolando Villazon this, although it is a short piece, looks terrible.

This the one of the most rediculours things I've ever seen.

@velazquez2011 At least she could have said "No, thank you" to such a horrible staging. If she accepts to do it of course she is responsible. I was talking about the staging, not the voice. A less famous singer might be obliged to accept anything if he/she needs to work for living. World famous names should choose better when they put their artistic signature.

One guy needs a man-bra! Other than that I have nothing positive to say. I am taping my mouth shut (in sympathy with the boy toys) because I hate to say anything trashy about people doing the best they can.

Voce piccola , quindi forza e urla , e poi prestarsi a produzioni così orribili non è' da grandi artisti . Ma una artista la Dessay non lo è' mai stata
