@@dabigd1860 Maybe you didn't listen to all of the albums and live performances Natalie Cole did AFTER her drug addiction. Her addiction did NOT take a toll on her voice at all AND Natalie Cole's voice got even better. Also, people don't taken into consideration that Natalie Cole got sober when she was 25 yrs old and STAYED SOBER FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. There were so many triumphs in Natalie Cole's career and so many genres she masterfully delivered. Natalie Cole IS a National Treasure. Check out her body of work, including her performances AFTER her addiction. A lot of it is here on KZread.🙏🏾 LOVE AND MISS NATALIE COLE♥️🙏🏾

@JOHN Fulton You can't "coach" this. This is SOUL baby. This comes from within and is innate. Our people had SOUL POWER back then. Yes, most had traditional church and choir training from the time they were kids but what you see with black female singers from back in the day: ARETHA, PATTI, GLADYS, CHAKA, TINA TURNER, and so many others and other black girl groups of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, GOES BEYOND COACHING AND TRAINING. You just can't coach and train this into just anybody and everybody. This IS spiritual. Hence the term "soul."

This reminds me of that Sept '71 night at the PUB in Amherst that I sat at an f-n front row table and watched her sing at the top of her lungs a Janice Joplin blues tune. I said to myself one word; "WOW". As an agent, over the next year I booked her Band BLACK MAGIC, and also had her front an 8 piece soul group (with horns) and front a piano-bass-drums group. Upon graduation I asked her whats' next? She said she was going to take graduate courses in the fall be a CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST. I said; "NO,NO,NO,NO YOU'RE A SINGER!!!" "But my Mom! She just spent $20K on my education! I can't do that to her". No-no-no! You're a SINGER! I'll get you work for the summer. Decide in September if you want to be a head-Doctor. BUT YOU GOTTA TALK WITH YOUR MOTHER! 2 WEEKS LATER THE THREE OF US MEET.....and the rest is HER-STORY. I am so very proud to say that after the '79 Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony, Natalie spotted me in the back of the crowd, ran up to me, threw her arms around me, and said; "If it wasn't for you Dick Booth, I wouldn't be here today!" And the world would never have heard of Natalie Cole. Dick Booth, Natalie's 1st Agent ( chapter 7 "Angel On My Shoulder" c20-21inkRWBEE

Natalie Cole brought a lot of love in my life in my teenage Years, Especially when I met the love of my Life and we made a Beautiful Family and we called my 1st. (Our Love). 1978! Listening to her Music brings back #PreciousMemories ya'll...Let me just Reminisce a little bit because I'm in my feelings. I lost the Love of my Life in 2018. My babies Daddy my Grand~babies Pa~Pa and I'm still #Hurting. For all of US! But when I look at them I see him so you see he's still with me through all of them and sometimes I cry inside because I don't want them to see me, but when I get home I fall on my hands and knees and let it out. But when I met him I couldn't never say no. No No No I didn't care what my Mommy or Daddy might had to say he will never here me say NO. Love that Guy. 2 Daughters 1 Son 6 Grand~daughters 1 Grandson. God's Good I stay #PrayedUp for all 10 of them. Natalie Cole left us in 2015 I cried I did... I'm soo Happy I am 1 of her Biggest Fans and had the Pleasure to see her in Concert and to Sing her Songs Like There's no TOMORROW (Because This Will Be A Ever Lasting Love).

Her live performances made her vocal gift even more undeniable! She sung everyone away every time she hit the stage. Her vocal range was compared to the current best Aretha. Natalie was just that great! She turned everyone’s head. Very few singers made debuts like this! She was definitely a regal Queen in every way and her own special way! ❤

This is a talent to the likes we don’t see anymore and all these women bring something to the table that others cannot match. Enjoy it for what it is, indifferent to someone else’s talent.

So as Natalie's OFFICIAL RESEARCHER, I want to dispel this talk that CHUCK AND MARVIN knew Aretha, worked with her and even wrote a LOT of the Natalie hits for Aretha. THEY WANTED TO WORK WITH ARETHA because she was hot, but most of these hits were written FOR NATALIE COLE. YOU, from INSEPARABLE, was recorded by Natalie and Aretha, and a version of LOVE ON MY MIND was later completely reworked and made a hit by Natalie that they tried to shop to Aretha before, but THIS IS NATALIE, PURE AND POWERFUL! She found a way through her CHICAGO church family (REMEMBER, ALBERTINA WALKER was in the car when Natalie and Marvin married because her husband performed the ceremony and MOTHER ALBERTINA was the witness) and her rock n roll fire from UMass and her years on the road working her sound. NATALIE COLE CREATED A SOPHISTICATED FIRE OF HER OWN! She was LIVE and ECLECTIC AND ELECTRIC! She was as much JANIS JOPLIN as she was ARETHA FRANKLIN as she was NANCY WILSON! She was a new thing, merging the best of music in ONE TITAN OF A WOMAN!

Absolutely Fabulous! Miss Natalie Cole was a beast on stage and on record. I would love to purchase a DVD of her live concert doing her classic r&b material. The unforgettable concert is nice but nothing like the early soulful Natalie.

I see some are doing the this singer is better or can't compare with another. Why do we do that to our greats. They give us so much and we are so unappreciative. All of our singers give us their very best, their unique and unquestionable talent they make our lives bearable and so much better. Sometime they bring us joy, sometimes they help us overcome, sometimes they make us cry, sometimes they make us dance the night away but all the time the music and these amazing voices help us get by. Every singer is different and gives a different perspective and interpretation. They are incomparable and shouldn't be compared to or against each other. Just enjoy what they give. Appreciate the gift and be thankful that you experienced all this amazing talent in your life time. And lastly instead of tearing them down rejoice and thank them for sharing.

Drummer C Yes indeed! I have all of her albums on my iPod, but her Natalie Live! was the business, I could see why Aretha envied her.

Shout out to The Rag Man (DJ) from Gary, Indiana that would play “Can’t Say No!” When know other radio stations was playing this song!!! Great song and the song had folks comparing her to almost sounding like Aretha Franklin on that particular song.
