    6:39 She's real respectful also, she waits for Patti to nod at her and then goes in for a high note. Patti is also a very fucking humble singer.

    Natalie Cole was one of the most beautiful and gifted singers that ever lived. It's an absolute shame that she never achieved her FULL potential as an artist. And that is one crazy realization considering what she did manage to achieve. Though her famous and incredibly talented father was a legend, she didn't just coast on his established fame. Her entire career stood on it's own merit.

  • @waynehill2444

    "Never achieved her FULL potential as an artist"???? Are you kidding me? She had an extraordinary career! Hit records. Multiple Grammy's. Acting. Hosting her own variety show... the list goes on. An incredibly storied career!

    @@waynehill2444 Yes, I agree with you. Your comment actually helps to make my point. Despite all the personal struggles she encountered throughout her life, she still had a tremendous career! Just imagine what she could have accomplished without the drug addiction, health problems, etc. There's no doubt in my mind that Natalie Cole was an incredible artist.

  • @waynehill2444

    @waynehill2444

    Жыл бұрын

    @@boswelljuggdesh2643 And, you're proving my point. The fact that she had such an illustrious career in spite of her challenges, makes it that much more incredible. Actually, there is absolutely no need to talk about what COULD have happened. You can say that of yourself, what you could have accomplished if you avoided whatever mess ups you made in life! We all have them. Perhaps some not as troublesome as others. But, we all have them. To make that comment is just completely unnecessary. She had an incredible career. PERIOD!

  • @bryanjones6765

    @bryanjones6765

    24 күн бұрын

    Totally agree but Natalie was very conservative sometimes with her talent. All the comparisons to other singers in the past affected her. She just wanted to be a singer in her own merit. She didn’t like the unnecessary comparisons and senseless competition. The fans were always pitting one singer against another. And the record industry wanted to keep singers in a box, singing music that only sold records. Natalie always said the record labels were not encouraging singers to be different, sing different genres if the singers could sing them, invite singers to take risks and chances. They only wanted singers to make money for them. Natalie loved all types of music and could sing them all. But, the record labels prevented her from recording and releasing everything she wanted to sing! As a singer, you have to own, write and produce your own music if you want total freedom to do as you please. It’s a business and it requires money, lawyers and opportunity. It’s not just talent! We as fans got a lot from her!!! She wanted to do more. Unfortunately, her health failed her but we all will have health issues one day. We are human! God bless you Natalie for sharing your gift of music and life with us! I love you more than words can say ❤❤❤❤

    I'm certainly not surprised by Natalie Cole here. In her early days. She had a band who did 1970's Hard Rock. On her Live Albums with R&B in the 70's. She belts out "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and of course my favorite, "I'm Catching Hell." Both of her parents were singers and she inherited their gifts. Natalie died too young...

I dare you to watch Natalie Cole's live performance of, "I've Got Love Ony Mind", on here. It's the video when she's younger, some years before this video. This, obviously, wasn't a singing competition between Natalie and Patti. Go watch Natalie Cole's live performance before or during her sixties. She looked even more like her father, Nat King Cole, when she was in her sixties.

    one of my regrets, when it comes to the performers that I never saw, perform...was that I never saw Natalie Cole, in concert. I've seen Patti LaBelle in concert, many times....going back to her time with LaBelle. I saw them on their very first tour (the Nightbirds tour). But many may not remember or know, that Natalie Cole was a straight up "soul singer" when she first became a hit-maker. Go back to her first handful of albums, and you'll see how much of her catalogue, was pure r&b. And her live album "Natalie!...LIVE!" is still one of my favorite records, ever. And that album came out in the 70s. Natalie, didnt attempt to do any sort of pop standards or jazz or 'latin music' until she had really carved a niche, as a veteran performer. I miss her..

    I remember this show real well. James Ingram was on the show and he was flirting with Natalie real hard. Didn't know if he meant it! At one point Natalie said "my goodness" and James said "that's what it would be, my (meaning his) goodness."🤐
