This was a very interesting video. Nice to see the aerial put in place on arrival. Seems like many times the aerial is way too late in being put into action. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down… lol

Usually with Nashua the problem is by the time a video is on scene the fire is out! One way to get some is to do a ride along, if you know the deputy.

That was some miserable fire. Twenty minutes in and we still have black smoke column, and no steam. I heard the interior crew call for Salvo, and relief crews. That was rough.

I suspect that the roof void was only a couple of feet deep. The interior crew were no doubt breaking holes through the ceiling, meeting a wall of smoke and having to guess which way to aim the water.

That should've been made a working fire on arrival. Seems like there should be more companies assigned on a commercial structure fire as well. Nice job by ladder 1, they did it right and were on air, unlike a few others...Now just buckle up those waist straps guys. And what's up with the gas can on the roof??

Why are the driver/operators of the rigs not wearing any gear? 2 in 2 out rule....your role can change in a few seconds. Should have their gear on.

That is one miserable fire. There is nothing worse than working a pitch roof, that 30yr old fiberglass that actually has glass, the trusses completely covered in creosote AND ALL of it is made out of asbestos. Those fires burn so nice and hot, it doesn't matter that you spent $120 for the vented gator hood or the $400 alligator cut proof/water proof, cooling gloves and the great carbon fiber New Yorker .. Because everything gets soaked, everything is soaked from sweat & it's all covered in pitch. By the time you're done Murphy Law takes its course & you've got a couple more automatic alarms & a BS medical .. in pitch.

frankwalley Flat roofs are terrible fires to fight, they hold heat, smoke and fire back for some time, and is back breaking work to open some roofs depending on construction, hate flat roofs!!!!!!!

+Pavel M Yea, like I had said in another reply, ......This isn't Hollywood nor is it mounted on a tripod or a Steadicam system unless you'd like to buy me one . It's taping live action on a hand held and at least it's getting the action and audio instead of the ground or the sky like I'd see on others. Try taking some Advil and Dramamine and maybe putting a seat belt on your chair or, better yet, maybe just turn your computer off !
