Great work. I had a text post on it way back. I am glad someone took time to finally make a you tube video about it. Field of View is magic and it really makes hell of a difference.

Whenever I shift, the camhack resets, and whenever I leave and reenter the game, camhack doesn't work.

The one thing that people fail to mention when it comes to sim racing (especially iRacing because its extremely limited amount of customization when it comes to camera position) is that changing your FoV doesn't necessarily equate to having the correct seating position. The only way that you can accurately portray this is to change your FOV to something realistic, such as 90-120. Then, move the camera above the dashboard, right under the window. Also, it helps to have a tablet/phone to put your gauges right through the hole in your steering wheel if you want to view your temps/pressures/RPM. The only drawback with this is that you can't look left and right. So, in reality, you can't actually get a "realistic" camera view unless the monitor is literally right behind your steering wheel.

So when I right click on the start menu in windows 10 I don't have admins command prompt or regular command prompt. Just power shell. Is that the same as command prompt?

If you don't see it there, in the start menu scroll down to the windows system folder and should be there. Otherwise hit Windows key+r and type cmd and run.

+TheBenCrazy Thanks for this guide. Why change the FOV with increase/decrease aspect and not move forward/backward. Also, I noticed my rear view mirror stops working (goes black) if I decrease the FOV to near 55. Perhaps this is just with the vanilla car model though.

i probably screwed up the measuring somewhere, but when i scale it in gimp it just pannes to the top left, which obviously isn't ideal because i can't see anything

I recently got Nascar Racing 2003. Had it installed, was doing quite well, then decided to tweak my steering. Bad mistake. Now the slightest turn of my wheel shows drastic movement on my steering wheel while in cockpit view. I can't keep the wheel (car)straight. Any hints? I am pretty much computer illiterate. I just wanna be able to race again. Thanks Damian

Does anybody know how to activate your mirror? When I’m zoomed in I can’t see the mirror. I was thinking if it’s possible to move the mirror to another monitor? If anyone has tips I’d appreciate it

Unfortunately I don't believe this is possible. If you zoom in too far it will disappear. Another option is using the roof cam view and lower it into the car

At 6:42 you change the seat position and then save, but when I do this, the only thing it saves is the FOV and resets the seat position. Is there any way to fix this?

When you change the seat position hit alt 1 to save to the 1 slot and when you turn it on, when you hit 1 it should go to the seating position.

in windows 8.1 this can't work. Tem should I run with win xp compatibility? Unfortunately, I don't see servispack 3, I run with win 8 compatibility. After entering the code, I have information that dx8vb.dll was loaded, but the DIIRegisterServer function call failed and error code 0x80070005 is found. What to do?

@@TheBenCrazy I running 8.1 64. Ok it worked, i mean camhack works but i can't do anything with the keyboard. The mouse works, the keys do not work. I tried to change the assigned keys, but it doesn't work. Any idea for that? I can't zoom in / out with the mouse, and that's what I care about the most.

Why apply the horizontal FOV from the site to the vertical resolution of your monitor? If you're factoring the aspect ratio somehow then it would give an incorrect result for ultrawide monitors or variations other than 16:9

Correct, in this case screen resolution = horizontal resolution. Looking back on it I did do it incorrectly.

@@TheBenCrazy On the off chance you see this - what do I do for the formula when using triple monitors (5760x1080)? The FOV calculator gives me 161.73. 78/161.73 = approx .48 Do I still multiply that by 1080 and use it as my vertical scale (= about 520) or do I multiply by 5760 and enter 2,778 as my horizontal scale?

I believe it can work using Nvidia Surround along with camhack to correct the fov. Never have tried it but im sure a quick Google search will lead you to the correct answer to make it work

Make sure you're running the Command Prompt as and Administrator. Right click the Command Prompt icon, click properties, then click "Run as Administrator". It will work then.

Is this compatible for Windows 10? I'm having trouble with loading the program after following what the video says

This was done using windows 10. Try rebooting after following the video. Also try copying and pasting from the pinned comment in CMD (also try running CMD as admin)

@@saturnalis8813 Is the user account you are using the administrator? Due to win10 being win10, UAC can prevent you from registering the file which only works if the account is admin even running cmd in administrator mode. If you're tech savvy you can disable uac in the registry but turn it back on after cause it's a security risk. Past that I don't know what would prevent you from adding it other than restart the computer and try again.

Did this and now my game keeps doing a graphics config every time i click testing/race/etc :( trying to get around this but its a massive bummer :( Using an nVidia card too

This is a driver problem. You need to revert back to July's driver 368.81. Anything newer causes the graphics config issue.

Because it does, keen eye! Its rsmb and my thinking back then was it was the best way to show high framerate with 60 fps. I wouldn't do that now though cause it kind of misrepresented the game graphics. And it took forever to render, something stupid like 2 hours for 1 minute at 60 frames

@@TheBenCrazy Wow that's a lot of time for a little bit of video! So if I understood correctly, this is only in video editing, not actual gameplay. I wish this would have been an actual video setting, the game would have looked even better, because it really does here!

I just found out, that the FOV calculators are ALL WRONG!!! You do not need a calculator. Just sit down in your rig, set the in game seat on zero vertical and horizontal... and now let the magic happen... Grap the wheel... look to the horizon... adjust ONLY the fov to the point of immersion when it looks like your own hand on the ingame wheel in your peripherial view... BAM!!! Start the engine and FEEL THE MAGIC!!! NOTE: My FOV calculator said a FOV would be correct in AMS2 with 71 degree...... 50 inch 21:9 screen and eyes 82 cm away and from car to car I had to adjust the seat... This works, but try the other way... THE IMMSERION STARTS HERE!!! Now my FOV is between 100 and 104... And it is far easier to hit the apexes.... Please let me know if you understood ... I am willing to explain... sorry, but many videos do not use it correctly... and lead me to hundreds of hours driving with a complicated adjusting to the "correct fov" which lead to a less correct and immersive driving experience... The FOV and immersion are dependend on three points on a straight line... Your Eyes, your hands, the monitor... You can then adjust the seat... TRY IT!!! NOW: Take a car and let it put a smile on your face on the Kemmel Straight when you hit the 300 kmh :-) Let's call it FEEL OF VIEW! Even with my T150 I can feel the weight distribution of the cars and these moments you are almost flying... That's a GAME CHANGER! Looking forward on your feedback.
