Danica: "Not my job to sign autographs" Richard Petty: Sat at the track signing autographs until every fan who wanted one had one. Speaks volumes of what is wrong with NASCAR these days.

Kent Cruse *speaks volumes of what is wrong with Danica Patrick’s ego,** not with the sport itself. There are still more than enough drivers that genuinely love their fans, and the sport an all that comes with those both having and being a part of both of those things. She’s past her prime in NASCAR and, her outbursts towards those that’ve brought her to this are proof of that fact. Sad part is, not only does she fail to realize her prime in her stock car career finishing within the top teens at best, usually top 20’s, everyone except for Danica can see that her career is well beyond the point that she should’ve retired at by now... In her eyes she’s just about to begin summiting that learning curve & “finally be good and show all of my haters just how wrong they were about saying I should’ve went back to indy car after my second god awful season!!! They’ll see real soon.” Yet to the rest of us, it’s painfully obvious that she peaked waaaaaay back in like 2013-2014 and has actually fallen off and *got worse* a whole hell of a lot worse since then.. It’s not NASCAR’s fault that she had a particularly shitty race the weekend prior and, ended up taking it out on a fan later on that week, it’s her fault for not bothering to learn how to drive the way that’s required for the genre of racing she’s so intent on being a legend within. It’s HER FAULT & hers alone that she doesn’t bother renting out a track and getting one of her colleges from her own or any other team to practice bump drafting, bumping and running, or, y’know, actually following and staying on one of the two preferred lines for THIS TYPE OF RACE CAR. I mean for fuck sakes, she’s coming up on ten years of racing stock cars and still follows the exact same fucking “optimal line” that you’d take WHEN YOU’RE IN AN INDY CAR AND NOT A GEN 5 NOR ESPECIALLY A GEN 6 NASCAR STOCK CAR.... yet there she is, taking that same Indy car line. Only to allow herself to be co trolled by her ego and pummel her fans and their genuine love and support for her. & THAT is her problem. Not nascar, not the track, not the only other driver on her side that actually has her back. Fuck she aggravates me. I thought she’d retired when I first watched this video all the way through a few months ago in November I believe it was when I was first getting into nascar, nope, I was wrong..... 🤣😳👐🏼

this is true for lot's of sports and it's sad, take dirt biking, you gotta run at the front of the pack in every race and be able to do triple back flips and shit before anyone will know your name if you are a guy, but yet a girl just has to be able to throw her leg over the seat and start it and she's got sponsors and a spotlight story done on her, or skate boarding, a guy can do 360 kick flips over 10 ft gaps and go unnoticed, but whats this i see? a girl standing on a skate board and pushing herself around a little bit, omg lets give her a 4 page article in a magazine and blast her face on every energy drink commercial. it's totally unfair. I have no problem with a female getting that kind of attention as long as she EARNED it.

True. A lot of the wrecks that got shown looked like they happened because she was having problems controlling her car. It was as though she was thinking she could throw it around like an Indy car and expect it to stick, not realizing that a NASCAR car is much heavier, looser, and less aerodynamic. The really sad part is that she didn't seem to learn from the first few times and try a different approach, instead insisting that she was constantly getting wrecked.

Worst equipment to performance ratio was posted by Danica. She never cared about becoming truly good. Coming to NASCAR for her was only about getting her "brand and marketing" out there for more people to see. Thankfully, the gate for female drivers who actually do take stock car racing seriously no longer depends on her.

I guess at the end of the day I don't have a problem with her as a person. My problem is with how the media covered her. As a child I grew up watching both the NHRA and Monster Jam. Still follow both, to an extent. I took no issue with the likes of Cristen Powell winning an NHRA national event. Jill Canuso's year end performance in Las Vegas still remains one of my favorite monster truck performances ever. It never once occurred to me that a girl competing in motorsports was a big deal. Danica came along, and something changed. Danica wasn't a driver, she was a movement. She was like "Go Green" or "Girl Power" personified. And it suddenly became this like, unwritten rule that you weren't allowed to criticize her because her presence was now a political thing. Which, to anyone who actually followed racing, made absolutely no fucking sense. The media tried to pull the revisionist history card on the most hardcore, knowledgeable fanbase out of all professional sports - racing fans - and it backfired spectacularly. Every meaningful barrier that could have been broken by a female driver, had already been done so decades earlier, and we all knew it & could rattle off lists of significantly more influential female racers, but yet the media continued to shove her down our throats long after the jig was up. Here's to hoping they never pull this shit again.

I would like to make a point at the 7:43 mark. Brad Sweet was one of those smart drivers that was doing a different type of racing and tried their hand at NASCAR. He ran quite a few races between '12-'13 but once he realized that NASCAR wasn't fit for him, he went back to Sprint Cars and is winning races today. Just wanted to throw that out there.
