@@ic3man Black Flags Matter stated, though, that a big reason for Shane Hmiel's drug addiction was from his mental disorders including bipolar depression. Not to get political, but it just goes to show that this country doesn't do enough to help people with mental disorders. Some of them is because their parents abused them, others from bullying, and some had birth defects. Now, that's no excuse for what Shane did, because there's other ways to cope with depression besides drugs, but had this been taken care of sooner, we might not be talking about wasted potential. We might be talking about a champion, and probably one with a better attitude.

Well there hadnt been a dash series driver fatality since 1993 when it ended, but the track worker accident in 2004 really killed off the series for good, not many drivers ended up making it out of the series in the later years either, Robert Huffman a five time champion was only ever able to get 2 seasons in trucks after the series ended, young guns from the series like Cam Strader and the Hobgood brothers never really made it either, although Strader has a NASCAR win as a crew chief in the xfinity series in 2008.

One could say the same thing about Tim Richmond, who I was a huge fan of in the 1980s... I remember my friend Larry telling me "I don't know, all the drivers are trying to get an intervention going with Tim...." and well, that obviously never happened - but that does not change what I still think about Tim, and he'll always be my favorite NASCAR driver. Now, Shane.... I never heard of this cat before - as I've been out of NASCAR since Tim Richmonds death - until about a month ago, when out of the blue I decided to buy a 2002 Monte Carlo SS project car, with the checkered flags on the sides..... I'm going to have to research Shane some, as it seems like Tim, Shane could have been one hell of a force to be reckoned with as far as NASCAR goes. Thanks for posting this video, otherwise I would have never heard about Shane. I can only hope he's alright and can still contribute some how to the sport of auto racing.

NASCAR Busts Team Tabasco/Tyler Jet Motorsports Let’s just say in from 1997- 2000 the team performed amazing bad when they did qualify, went through many different drivers, was sold mid season in 1998, switched manufacturers without telling their sponsor, was forced to switch back and lost Tabasco after the season. Things were looking up towards the end however. They finished off the 99 season on a high note with David Green and improved drastically with Johnny Benson in 2000, scoring 1 top five, 2 top tens, 10 top fifteens, and the occasional burst of speed. They made 17 of the first 18 races that season before being sold once more to MB2 Motorsports mid season, as tradition dictated.

My prediction is, if he didn't have problems with drugs and most of all, didn't have that accident at Terre Haute Action Track, he would been a major star in my eyes. He could have won a Xfinity then called Busch Series title, he could have a lot of Cup success. In my words, he is the one that got away in NASCAR.

I don’t mean to bash anyone but it’s rare if someone smokes and does other drugs. Weed is beautiful and isn’t as bad as this makes it seem. I have been a weed user for years and have taken many breaks and haven’t gone on to do anything

Very unfair if you ask me. Dale was really aggressive as well, especially when he was younger. There's a reason why he was called the "Intimidator". If you didn't get out of his way, he would make sure you would. And yet, he's a NASCAR God. This isn't a case of "wasted" talent. It's a case of banned talent. Apparently NASCAR didn't want another Dale around.

its funny everyone says they miss the old bristol, meanwhile Shane Hmiel's 3 bump and runs and then wrecking Dale Jarrett hurt a lot of peoples feelings. i don't think 2019 or social media could handle the old bristol.

Busts: Reed Sorenson Sad as I am to admit, because I was actually a fan of his when he first made it into the Cup series; when I was younger I was subscribed to _Sports Illustrated for Kids_ magazine, and in ~98-99 they'd done a small little piece on him as a teen when he raced legends cars, and then they followed up on that years later when he made it to the Busch series & finished 4th in the points in 2005. It was cool to see someone I'd sort-of followed make it that far, and I was hoping he'd be a superstar in the Cup; but even though he's still active, suffice to say that hasn't happened. :(

11:55 - it may explain using downers (eg cannabis) but not cocaine. Using substances to bring you up and others to bring you down will more than likely only compound the problems bipolar can present. Its a dayumn shame that he blew it so bad in nascar. His recovery after his crash is massively inspiring tho. Great video. Hope everyone's good.
