Nas has always given the legends their just due, and he did the same thing for Rakim - and others - during the Hip Hop Grandmaster Awards.
The awards ceremony, which took place on Saturday (November 18), kicked off with the King’s Disease rapper reciting lyrics from “Paid in Full,” before paying tribute to the Long Island native and Hip Hop pioneer.

This is INCREDIBLE!! Much respect to Nas and his team for this monumental undertaking. With that said, it would have been more appropriate to start with the original pioneers like Kool Herc, the L Brothers, Pete DJ Jones, Jimmy Spicer (his estate), Melle Me, etc. They laid the foundation for everyone to eat comfortably off this music and culture.

Ben Horowitz? Bye Felicia.🙄 The whole Nas and Rakim thing is a strange one. I saw an interview where Rakim wasn’t feeling the UBR song Nas did about his life. I saw another interview they both did together and it seemed like they were on good terms. Interview might have been from 2004-2006 maybe. Only they know what it is but salute to Nas for trying to do something good.
