Eminem is taking lyrical technique to levels I haven't heard before and I've been a rap nerd for over 30 years. He can make every line with the same rhyme for almost a whole verse and throw in extra rhymes in the same sentence and then freak it back and forth. He has definitely evolved over the years.

Em is the G.O.A.T. whether people want to admit it or not. I used to knock him when he first came out in 1999. But Face it, the best MC was white and one of the best golfers was black. Some people can't admit it because it doesn't fit the pre-fit sterotypes in their heads. There's not a category in hip-hop or rap that anyone would beat Em (story telling, battling, word play, etc). He's not the MC I play the most but Em's the G.O.A.T. Even Rakim put him top 3.

I agree not impactful regarding flow or lyrics, but hip hop as a whole, I can only think of a few old schoolers like RAKIM, Run DMC, or Grandmaster Flash that have had as much of an impact on its expansion. I mean as the first HUGE white rapper he basically brought hip hop to a whole new level, so many kids in the burbs and even in the Netherlands and Europe that had no major exposure to it before him. Is it because he’s white? Yes. Is that sad, unfair and depressing? Definitely. But Is it true? Yes. I definitely agree stylistically though, yes he’s a beast but has had less impact in that sense as opposed to overall impact on hip hops reach.

*Nas raps super direct as if he's talking to you and Eminem raps with the skillful wordplay. I feel like it's a perfect mix.*

Bro I just heard that part... omg. Em did a show a loooooong ass time ago with DOOM, back when they were both first starting out. I always imagined MF DOOM is basically what em wouldve been like if he chose to go the indie route. They both clearly thought highly of eachother and respected each others talent and skill level, but coming up from two completely different worlds I always wondered if that was truly the case, and this pretty much just confirmed it.

The moment I read the title immediately I knew hip hop was alive and kicking again. Mad love to EPMD, Nas, and Eminem, resurrecting real hip hop with authority. Tbh most younger rappers are not comparable to OG catz

Both Nas and Em did their thing. Em had the better rhyme schemes and witty lines, whereas Nas came with the better story telling and imagery. Em’s flow is obviously faster and more dynamic, but Nas had the butter smooth flow that just rode that beat in cruise control. Hope they collab again.

Well Eminem has a tendency to put in extra work when he features. Worth the price. Even tho it’s rumored that Eminem won’t charge for a feature if it’s someone he respects and wants to work with. And j cole is out charging 250k a word just to be a feature. Don’t quote me on any of this.
