This is certainly interesting! I’m 5’4” & people are always shocked when I tell them that b/c I have kind of long features, or I guess my body proportions are moderate. So people always think I’m taller than I actually am.

I'm 5'4 and people keep telling me I look athletic.I'm also asked if I'm 5'8 all the time.. I do have width and muscle so I typed myself as a pure natural before kibbe scraped pure types. N lines suit me best but personally I like the DC aesthetic so I bridge the two and it works wonderfully for me.. Edit: I tried pure DC lines and I realised I it looked too constricted on me. I needed to add something flowy or asymmetrical or 'casual'.. this helps me look effortlessly stylish as opposed to someone who put in lot of effort to look like an out of place airhostess.

The last girl is Soft Dramatic at only 5’4.. However, Kibbe stated SDs are 5’5 and taller. He also said Rihanna was TR, until he found out she’s 5’8. But even though Rihanna is actually not a TR, she looks her best in TR clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc.. He also eliminated all of the pure body types, changed the height requirements for soft natural, etc, etc. There’s sooo many more examples, but it goes to show that no body typing system is perfect. I’ve been trying to figure out my body type for years. I’m pretty sure I’m a SD now, but it’s obvious why people get so frustrated trying to figure out their body type.

I'm a true romantic - why would he eliminate the pure body types? True romantic is what describes my body the best - short, wide, rounded and fleshy. I don't think I'd fit in any other categories lol

well, bc again height doesn't matter as much as your perceived height aka vertical line. It is true ofc that most people, who are tall, as in near 180 cm look tall, but sometimes, especially in men, it isn't the case. I thought two men, who were 185 and 180 cm tall, were like 170 cm tall and I would have guessed them even shorter, if one of them wasn't european lol bc they just look A LOT shorter than they are, so yeah. One of them is very likely a pure romantic, while the other is more likely a gamine. Both are very muscular and tall yet their yin features stand out a lot. The same happens in reverse too. Rihanna has absolutely no bussiness in the SD category and I even saw a video trying to explain it yet all the examples made it even more clear to me that she is a TR. If she was an SD, she would have so many features not fitting into that category, while being in the TR category, she is only slightly taller than most TRs and that does not matter as you look only at her body in its own proportions and ofc she looks so much better in TR clothing and her height just makes it easier to incorporate some more dramatic elements, but not SD clothes. The dude is basically ruining his own system lol Merriamstyle made a system similar to kibbie, while basically erasing these errors and inconsistencies and to me she is the most accurate, while typing people. I am also an SD by the way and the height restrictions actually first made me completely exclude dramatics lol even though I am 170 cm tall

@@Laura-vs6fs I totally agree! She looks very dainty. She belongs in the TR category.. I’m 170 cm as well and soft dramatic, I know other SDs when I see them. She’s not it lol. I also watched that video where people swore she was a SD, and people going back and forth in the comments, she’s absolutely NOT. I love Merriam style! I find her opinions to be more accurate. He has indeed ruined his own system. It’s too much confusion and back and forth now.

That is pretty common however, if you are really R you never give the impression of being tall, just not as short.

The more videos I watch, the more confused I am 😂 I decided, that I never will know my Kibbe Type, because I have the feeling I am a mixture of everything. But I still love watching you :) I wish you a wonderful year 2022 😘💓

If you are moderaly to very tall my guess would be natural/flamboynt natural your shoulders are pretty wide and your face isn't as dry as a dramatic, your nose and lips are pretty rounded and your bone structure is more blunt than sharp^^

Thank you for trying to help me, but I don‘t think this is accurate, cause you are not seeing my bone structure of my body. My face is pretty blunt, but I can see a hint of cheek bones. My shoulders are not that wide, but it seems so, because my head is narrow? Haha, and my shoulders are sharp, too. But all the other features are moderate. I am 168cm tall, I think I am moderate. I will keep guessing 😂 but thank you a lot!

I rewatched some Ghost Whisperer episodes lately and it reminded me of how I used to compare myself to the actress Jennifer Love Hewitt as a teenager. She is more thin and small as a flamboyant gamine than my natural large boned self, so I felt that I was not feminine enough. We are impressionable when we are young. All women need to realize that we are enough as we are. Thank you Aly for helping women realize maybe sooner that there are different ways to be feminine.

I’m (what I believe I am) a Dramatic Classic, and used to compare myself with girls who are Gamine’s thinking “That’s what I want to look like” even though it would never be physically possible. I love how more yin types felt fat and therefore unattractive for not looking more yang.... The irony.

It’s about training the eye but also learning the language. Terms like moderate, lines, elongated, compact, wide…if you’re new to this you can easily get lost. Especially if you’re more used to simpler descriptives like tall, skinny, curvy, big, etc. lol

"There are several billion people on this planet and only 13 body types" YES Aly, this system is to help find tendencies in yourself and hopefully make it easier to shop. Ladies, I'm sure you're efforts look great, even on the days your second guessing yourselves.

I could never guess Barbra Streisand’s and Zendaya’s height. The first one I thought is very tall and the second one I thought is very petite.

Just sharing what has been really helpful for me when I couldn't "land" on my Kibbe type. Check out Dressing Your Truth, it'll give you great cut and color advice (along with texture, fabrication, design line for garments) and the self analysis is MUCH easier than Kibbe. I know my Kibbegory now but I really enjoy layering the two. I'm too tall to be a "Kibbe classic" but my DYT type explains why those styles appeal to me and look great with some modifications! Good luck!

If all you do is watch Aly Art or some other youtubers and blogs for fun or consultations, I think it's ok and may be helpful. You may find it confusing, like you are stuck between 2 or more body IDs. That's when you'll decide whether you just take what you get and like from this and give it your own twist...or you go down the rabbit hole of several communities revolving around these ideas in a desperate search for the "truth", the best theory and fit. Been there, done that - most eventually turn into toxic echo chambers, cults of body dysmorphia, if new ideas/breaking the rules is not allowed.

I find the shoulders to be confusing… is it it the whole line from neck to arm? Or is it the shape of the corner where the arm meets the shoulders? The line from neck to arm is impacted by posture and neck shape: a shorter or wider neck, forward head and rounding shoulders, bigger trap muscles can all create a sloped line from neck to arm. But then a lack of flesh can create sharpness or bluntness with visible bones and a square corner where the shoulder drops into the arm.

I believe shoulders to be specifically shoulders, it is the bone not the neck or your posture. If you have wide shoulders and ribcage you cannot hide that. Your upper body will very obviously dominate.

I love this! It’s fun. However I struggle really hard to identify myself. I believe that I am theatrical romantic. What makes it complicated for me is that my vertical line is almost classic, my height is 5 foot six and my shoulders are broad. Which makes me feel like a smallish version of a soft dramatic. It’s not a bad thing. It’s sort of Sophia Loren versus Selma Hayek. Both look fantastic in a “seven year itch “type of Maryland dress. Both are quite busty and hourglass with rounded hips and shapely legs. Of course dramatic and romantic are so far apart. But Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe, we’re not standing next to each other, do have some figure similarities don’t they? So I took a few online tests and I turn out to be theatrical romantic. Almost romantic very close..

I’m 5’6”-5’7” with very long legs and arms and my face looks much more youthful than my actual age but I look best with short skirts and kinda bulky crop tops especially if I put a buttoned up shirt on the inside. I’ve tried so many different types of outfits but nothing looks better. I identify the most with FG even though I’m the opposite of tiny. I tried D line and they look weird and FN lines make me look 10 years fatter and just off. The way I see it we can’t all fit exactly in the rules.

I think am a soft classic but I'm 5'3" (am Mexican and it's an standard high for women) so I wasn't really sure because of that. I categorised myself into TR but my shoulders are not sharp. They're rounded and sloped. But I have some sharpness. I always noticed how narrow my feet are. Also I remember comparing my hand to a girl at school (idk why) And she was slimmer than me but her fingers were much more large than mine and puffy. So I think that the drama in me shows in narrow bones. And my face shape is square. Like Salma. Only my jaw is rounded and not as prominent. Also my nose, eyes, lips and rounded. Also now I can actually see how bird like my facial features are. Eps is noticeable in my cheekbones.

I'm confused. I'm 5'10 , 34 inseam,short waisted, hips are wider than soulders, long arms, 145 pounds, and wear a size 8 or 10 in tashoulders, I will be 70 , usually wear tunics and leggings. Please give me an idea which category I fall into please? Thank you

It’s because the camera is lower which makes a person look taller. If you look at her other pictures you can see how petite her height actually is.

From what I gathered theatrical romantic look much more delicate and petite in frame and bones. Soft naturals are soft in flesh but their bone structure is still bigger and wider than a theatrical romantic.

I'm the opposite, i thought I was theatrical romantic at first but finally figured out I'm soft natural. The SN clothing recommendations look better on me and I feel more like myself in them. I have a small head and broad, softly square shoulders. I'm average height but my vertical line looks slightly longer. I think of theatrical romantic as more dainty looking than me now. @@ThisPaola honestly I think the fact that naturals have to be or look muscular I think is a misconception. If you look at natural celebrities there are tons of them who don't look muscular at all, like Emma Stone or Kristen Stewart so I wouldn't exclude it based on that. I think it's moreso a stereotype of the body type.

Ok so SJP is a Flamboyant gamine with a dramatic essence? I have just realised that I’m a Natural with a dramatic essence my body is natural and my face is dramatic long narrow like SJP prominent nose sharp angles chin and jaws. Than I have thin bones but musculature and soft lines rounded shoulders long vertical lines because I have long limbs longer arms and long legs ( I’m not a flamboyant natural even though I look like a 5’6 170cm I’m a 5’4 164cm) Finally I got it!!! Exactly. She is shorter than Madonna who is not 165 rather 155 (well known back in '90s - her dancers were chosen carefully so that they don't look much taller than her). Barbra refused to do nose job and voila - she is SD. The amount of people frustrated by this system is reaching ridiculous scale, rightfully. To me, it's well known what suits specific body lines and heights. The overall vibe is entirely different story.

Why you don't charge us a fee. We send you a pic wearing clothes that you recommend, in a pose that suits you and then you tell us what's our body type for a fee.

I am the most narrow, vertical line person there is lol
