I worked at a venue in in 2001-2003 and met Davey Havok, Actually Played a few games of Tekken with him, and hung out for a few mins,.One of the nicest and most down to earth "rock stars", I have ever met.

I feel like this interview has the most balanced and smooth amount of bandmate mic inclusion/transition of any Nard interview.

Very Proud of Ya is still one of the best punk albums ever.

Do not ever compare the legendary Nardwuar to that goof Bryan Stars.

I saw them when they toured with Green Day in August of 2010 They';re amazing live GREAT performers They even sang their first songs

They're always so kind to their interviewers because they know the fans are watching. Very considerate.

I love the fact that they talk about old school stuff like the Gilman. I go to the Gilman about once a month to see a show. That place is amazing.

This video reminded me of the Nerve Agents I used to love that band!

AFI is a really cool band. As much as I don't like their recent work, they have an extensive history and have made some really good music in their time as a band.

Ha ha deadly interview, I love these guys, and no offense, but you guys gotta get over this whole "Davey is gay" thing. Even if he IS gay (which is entirely possible) he it still awesome.

most people Narduar interviews are angyr or annoyed at him. But AFI are really nice.

Nardwuar knew, before the interview, that they were recently talking about Gilman Street and the banana girl. I mean, out of all the stories from Gilman to bring up, he mentions the one they were talking about a few days prior. Nardwuar always does his research. :)

@QmegaNC Was that last bit referring to this interview or Nardwuar interviews in general? Because Nardwuar generally has way more music knowledge than the bands he interviews, but in this one, AFI is going toe-to-toe with him on all of these subjects and even besting him on a few. Which I'm sure he enjoyed cause he likes giving good interviews and learning new things.

In 1997 the kids who wore nirvana shirts, by 98 were now sporting silver chains and trying to imitate black culture because all of a sudden it was cool thanks to MTV. I think MTV has alot to do with the death of rock n roll. Emo was such a stupid label to what we used to call indie rock in the 90's. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate was the pioneers of that sound and then came the posers in the 2000's with that same sound and calling it emo as a way to emasculate the genre for a bunch of young pussies to call that music their own while they cut themselves and go out shopping at the mall like mallrats looking for the tightest small black shirts to wear at Hot Topic. Rock died when the pussy boys took over.

You can really tell that they were signed by a label alongside Green Day, because they sound a lot like them judging by those clips. I didn't listen to anything beyond Sing the Sorrow. Which I just listened to again and loved just like I did 12 years ago...

But that doesn't describe AFI in any way. First, "emo" is not a legitimate genre. That's a label that only immature people use. DU-era AFI is influenced by many old pop/new wave influences. The word "emo" has nothing to do with it at all. Grow up man, not every band that becomes more mainstream friendly is automatically selling out.
