I was repeatedly told I was crazy and I needed 'help' So I did. At a woman's shelter and through a counsellor there, I first heard the term "narcissism'. Changed my life. ( He also said I had a stupid smile. Ironically during the love bombing stage he would tell me what a beautiful smile I had) Both my narc mom and my narc husband each told me I would 'fall flat on my face' without them. Six years later, I'm doing fine, thank you.

Seems like a common thing, those of us with narcissist mothers end up partnering up with someone just like our mothers, it's messed up. My ex and mother would say the exact same words, I would get caught off guard every time my ex would repeat words only my mother had said to me years earlier like "you have a stink personality" and "don't tell anyone what goes on at home" and "you're crazy, you need help" and "I know you better than you know yourself" and they both also told me I would be nothing without them. I cut them both off 15 years ago and I am much better for not having them around.

YEP. That's right. The Narcissist will never give you closure. I have found that one of the hardest things in life, is creating my own closure. In these situations (with Narcissists), we MUST create our own closure. We will be dragged thru the mud until we are completely destroyed, if we keep looking to them for the explanation we will never get. If we DID get an explanation, it would only be lies (like all of the other things the Narcissist makes up).

I confirm the "What do you want me to say?". It's sincere, they really think like that most of the time, "what does this person want me to say, I'll say anything to have the control over how they feel about me", and it just slipped out of their mouth and so they said it out loud. Very, very revealing.

We went to couples counselling quite early on in our marriage. I had high hopes because I thought we had a communication problem and could work on it together. Epic fail. He appeared calm, stable and reasonable and the female counsellor clearly fell for his persona. By contrast I was agitated and extremely puzzled and struggling to get the right words to express myself. He announced to me after a few sessions that we were wasting money and I had to agree. I can now see what was really going on. Both the counsellor and I were being manipulated and he came out of it feeling like he'd won. I was too idealistic in those days and I'm more cautious and grounded now (mostly!)

My wife’s most consistent “saying” has always been “You’re the only person that could ever hurt me” and her second is “you’re too serious, i was just joking”. Meanwhile, her most consistent “behavior” is to ignore me, ghosting, icing out for weeks or months at a time. I never know why she’s mad again and i have stopped asking. I never get a straight answer. But if she was being honest she would probably say “i need my narcissistic supply from you to validate me and you are not giving it to me so i am going to make you hurt by ignoring you because i know that hurts you”. She has said she loves me but actions speak louder than empty words. She has an active social life but god forbid if i ever consider spending time with a friend - silent treatment.

Great video Andrew. Yes in my narcissistic relationship when it first started, he told me he loved me more than anyone ever. I fell for it let him move in it was nice at first. Then he started getting annoyed for little things. I would cook after a long day of work, he would let me finish and then tell me, I actually want to order something instead. If I resisted he would say if you love me you'll do it. Then he would be mad if I took a day off work tell me that I should have gone to work. He would be angry if I didn't tell him how much I got paid for the week, and he's unemployed. He would stop speaking to me all day and if I tried to hug him or something he would tell me to leave him alone. It was a terrible time for me I was in a relationship but felt alone and lost. He would also tell me I was a sick person for being too jealous, all I did was ask him if he was coming home. After being discarded I ran away left behind everything and haven't looked back. Still healing but I'm better. Thanks everyone for your kind words and thank you Andrew.

I am an empath! To the point where even when I am hurt by anyone, (family, children, etc.,) I end up feeling sorry for and apologizing to the abuser! I am forever told by my narcissistic, “man of means”, wealthy husband ..” I give you everything” (material things) … because “I love you”! Emotionally? … he is bankrupt! No emotional support in times of crisis, goes totally silent when I need to voice my feelings in the aftermath of that crisis, no comforting words or actions, total mental and physical abandonment! (Tunes me out or gets up and leaves) I am invisible to him. We literally live separate lives under the same roof for the past 46 years. Our 7 children are grown w families of their own, the huge house is empty, it’s become my prison, for I’ve lost the will to set one foot out the door. Yet, I forever feel guilty and so sorry for him when I stand up for myself. What is this called? I’m the one who has been counseled since I’m 30 years old in thinking I’m the bad person. Is this what narcissists do? I’m so beaten down now that I literally pray for death! How do I handle this? I am so happy I found you Andrew. Your content is amazing. Blessing to you!

True, I heard many of these and to be honest, the words: "you'll never find anyone like me again" are so true of them, actually. I'll never find again a person, who would infect my only coping mechanism with perverted and disturbing imagery and then saying it wasn't enough, while calling me too sensitive and conservative... Which I am most certainly not. They gaslit me into believing that there was something wrong in my head for being sick of what they forced me to write, not them being mentally ill and just too much into some crazy, violent stuff. I'll never find again a person so scary and manipulative, who would show me things I never wanted to see, let alone writing them myself, making me ashamed for words written by my hand. This might be a strong conclusion, but... It's worse for me than losing money or being insulted on a daily basis. The fact that they got so deep under my skin and into my head and made me hurt myself by my own art. I swear I will NEVER EVER find any other monster of that sort again, those are rare! (at least I believe)

She then got the waitress to pack up the dinner to take out, (we were in a restaurant at night.) We left, walking back to her apartment and she suddenly threw the bags of food away onto a terrace of a house we were walking past, we were in Brooklyn on Henry St. (Coincidentally, my Dads name was Henry) I had no idea, even to this day, why she was angry. But I hear that he’s eating dirt these days. I’m happy with myself because I have been liberated from someone who was trying to destroy me. I love myself now and I am so valued by my Creator Jesus. He has now become my everything. When I was observing it and then going through it myself I didn't know what it was....after I left I came across your channel and a book about gaslighting...the education started from there. I recently experienced a couple of narcissists in a workplace....I recognised it straight away....others were oblivious to it and had no idea how abusive and manipulative their behaviour actually was. You are providing a great service to me because you bring clarity to the torment I suffered through and the agony I experienced for 6 years. Trauma to my soul has been severe but with your help I am sorting through the bonds of hell and recovering slowly but steadily. The angst within is palpable but I am resolute to becoming whole again and rebuilding myself to where I am within the boundaries of my own frame. To those who have experienced the wickedness and treacherous behaviors of narcissists, there is a slight comfort in knowing we, the whipping posts of our narcs, are not alone in this nightmare. It’s work to recover but possible to work through all our issues and become the best versions of ourselves because we are good people with compassion and empathy is crucial to being caring and compassionate people. One lesson that I learned is compassion is expensive and painful when the recipient of our love is an narcissist abuser. No reciprocation from the narc is dreadful/

The narc who preyed on me would tell me to my face, emails, texts, voicemails how much he loved me, wanted us to be together, marry, retire together, all very ardently. I believed him, swept me off my feet. I would see his flirtations on FB. There were other signs he indicating there were other women he denied. Words not matching his actions really confused me until I came across a new word “narcissist.” Then it all made sense. Now I know that those loving words were just bait to suck me back to servanthood. It was not a relationship but a situationship, a one sided con job. The trauma bond has been very painful. We become addicted to them through various chemicals working together in our bodies. It is hard enough to know who you were so deeply in love with wasn’t real, but you also became literally addicted in the process and a human can find such enjoyment inflicting pain on others like this. Sick!

@@NARCDAILYYouAreNotAlone could you answer a puzzling question? 🤔 Why do people leave when a narcissist is in your life? The work narcissist I had made my friends angry, he picked at them manipulating them when they were visiting me, I went in the other room, and came back and one of my friends was in tears. He was just shrugging at me and half laughing. She was happy when she had come over and was only alone with him for ten minutes. He tried to know all my friends, especially the ones that I knew for a long time. I would think perhaps if someone was your friend, they wouldn't leave. But she had a narcissist, really bad, and he tried to destroy all her friendships, got her fired every job she applied to. He made my life miserable, tried to run me off the road and looked back laughing. It makes sense the way you lay it out. He had a girlfriend who would do the same and manipulate everything she could, just to please him. She would call me countless nights crying. We couldn't figure it out. Now I can tell her, thank you!! ❤️🇺🇸

Can't believe how they get in your head , just obsessed with themselves real parasites. But I thank him because he gave me the opportunity to find someone better.

Same for me only from time to time he would say he " joked with the truth"!! Total power control freak. They can be so deeply cutting. Call us over sensitive, he told me I was an emotional wreck , when he was cold to me I would get even worse untill I made myself believe he was getting a thrill out of tormenting me. So then I just started to work on my poker face!! Love you honey 🙏💕 you are strong and galvanised now.😘💞🔥💪💯🎶🌹🌺🌸

Thanks Andrew for sharing the knowledge! So helpful with the healing! All theses comments were too familiar. Heard all of them and then some...My ex narc BF was of all things a psychologist...me thinking he's a professional, he must be right ...WRONG! I went from being the most wonderful person he ever met to crazy and needing therapy. Luckily, I crossed path with a GOOD psychologist that saw right through him and help me see again. Still healing but I love where I'm heading! Again... Thanks for sharing! You are making a difference! Namaste!

I used to keep letters, birthday cards, postcards, and other things and these things have been stored in boxes, resorted, organized, put in other boxes for most of my life. My wife's notes and letters are in the mix. I haven't reread through these thoroughly as I'm condensing my stuff that's in boxes, etc., once again at this stage of life. What I have glanced back through on these notes and letters from my wife is really resonating with the content and knowledge that I'm learning now today. There's a lot of that "I can't wait to be yours forever" type stuff. There's many points beyond this. I have a note from her that says something like, "sorry, I took over your room today, but I'll put it back," And, anyway, I came across a 35mm photo I had taken of my old room where I had started doing some painting/art on the wall. I had forgotten all about that one. I seriously only vaguely remember this one. I did another one previously on the wall and I remember that one; only difference is one was where that person, my wife, was in my life and the other was not. One note was even had a "sorry, I didn't mean all that last night" stuff, but looking back..... Beyond that, before my wife, I had a friend that may have been a narcissist, a really good friend, female. She would drop a ton of notes and fun art stuff at me. I probably did the same for her. I didn't reciprocate when I think she wanted more and my boundary at that maybe just repelled her as a friend even. I have to wonder, I mean, even as just a friend as I look back and think about it, that friend really just discarded me. And that was a friend I really liked, too.

Andrew I’m shattered. Are you saying he’s a lying POS. If there’s a positive in meeting one of these evil people it’s that if you’ve met one you’ve met them all. The only difference between them is they have different faces so we can tell them apart. 🙄
