Interesting. My mom recently told me she never understood when I was a kid why I cared so much about people. I had not considered that I might be an HSP. Just another possible route to better self understanding.

my addictive 'retreat' has been sleep. a small mercy compared to substance or other behavioural self soothing. it has consumed far too much of my potential and life though. i would rather be positive, hopeful and alive! 🙏

I know people (often in medical fields) love to go on about how great it is to communicate with people through screens. And in some cases I can see benefits, but we need to become very careful that it doesn't become the "normal" way to interact. People do benefit extraordinarily from actual in person contact. I can see some very serious long term negatives if this trend continues.

And my adult children now believe all of his charismatic lies about me... Because I taught them that he was a hero... I worshipped & believed him.....too!!! Eventually.. , pretty soon now. ..) that he would have time for them. And suddenly,. HE DID,,,! The attention they had longed for, He "love bombed" them for.... And all their childhood longing has come true.

sensitivity has not been a 'super power' in my life. it has been disabling because of the behavioural fractals that stem from it. anxiety. perfectionism. ocd. depression. suicidal ideation. malignant covert narcissistic abuse. the functional ramifications of these on my education, my chances of a career and my entire hopes of a future have been utterly, utterly catastrophic. 🙏

here's a test. how sorry? what does your sorrow mean - for either of us? for me it is just a fleeting comment and a cartoonish emoji against a lifetime of real struggle and pain. it's almost hurtful in its glibness. i cannot even try to be mindful (🙏) of that. it hurts as i go on suffering. as so many others do while some take profit from that. its become a bizness, a market sector and not the diabolically dysfunctional feature of our times. a genuine 'bonfire of the vanities'.

The traits may overlap. Codependency is a series of behaviors like putting other peoples needs before your own, people pleasing… we usually deploy these behaviors when we are in an abusive relationship to survive. If we are always walking on eggshells with a narcissist we learn if we please them the angry bear is easier to deal with.. once the abuse is gone and we learn to heal those behaviors tend to not be needed in our next chapter so we can let them go. Hope that helps

@@TracyAMalone i don't think they ever go. they are hard-wired from before we were even self aware - which brings into question the very existence of externalised sensitivity. does it even exist or is it just a dysfunctional coping mechanism just like narcissism 🤔. 🙏
