Napoleon Kettle Grill Review | Napoleon Grill Review | Napoleon Charcoal Grill Review | Napoleon Rodeo Pro Grill | Napoleon PRO22k-LEG | Napoleon BBQ
Today I am doing an unboxing and review of the Napoleon Rodeo Pro, PRO22K-LEG. This is Napoleons solution to combat Weber's Original Kettle grill and in my opinion they given weber a run for their money!
My First Impression of this Napoleon Grill is that it is build well and is made to last. From is platinum porcelain coated bowl/lid to it's heavy duty Cast Iron Grill this Kettle grill is ready to play.
It has a great look to it and as many functional components to it like a temperature gage on the top, three grill positioning levels and a hinged lid on the top.
If you are looking for a new kettle grill I would suggest looking at this one to see if it's right for you.

*Love it!! I used to use a propane grill and after using my Weber, the food just tastes so much better and the temp **MyBest.Kitchen** control is so easy! Will never use a propane grill again!*

This is my first charcoal grill after a lifetime of gas. kzread.infoUgkxBPjh-m7-eaAjTEt8BOZRSRRxXqxiI90W The food in it turns out great. Also, the ash remover makes it easy to clean. The base is sturdy and it has ample space inside.I use a chimney to get it started, and it seems pretty efficient. One chimney is enough to cook a whole lot of meat and still keeps burning. If you close the vents it cools down well making it so the coals remaining are still usable as supporting cast members (you still need fresh coals to get them going.I was going to get something bigger, but realized with coal, bigger is just more wasteful and harder to cook with.

I have one. Bottom vent does almost nothing to control temp. Initial thoughts is that the ash catcher air gap on sides allows air straight up into bbq. Rendering control slots to being aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks for your review! I've used the Weber kettle for years with lots of success in grilling, BBQing, baking and smoking. Looking forward to the cast iron grates, hinged top and adjustable grate/fire distance features of the Napoleon. I will miss the one-touch ash wipers at the bottom of the Weber but adding features to the Weber is not cost effective compared with a new grill. Hoping to receive the Napoleon cart version 8/8. I'll be seasoning the cast iron in the electric oven before putting them into service.

Your welcome, glad we could help. As for seasoning the cast iron, it is a pre seasoned grill which works great. You shouldn't have to do a pre season. Also, I hope you find some useful cooking videos on our channel. Most of our cooks are done on this grill. Enjoy.

Nice review ! Please share with us how you clean and mantain the cast iron grill after the cooking session ? You use stainless steel brush or brass brush because i reed on the internet that if you use a stainless steel brush you can scratch the surface of the porcelain coat from the grill. I will cook twice in a month using this grill so please explain the seasoning proces if you can. Thanks !

  • @PostalBarbecue

I dont' do anything different then when cleaning a stainless steel grate. You can't really keep a cast iron grate seasoned well becuase as soon as you use searing hot heat it bakes it off essentially. That said this is cast iron not porcelain coated cast iron which means it will last forever. Cleaning I just use a brush and alternate the sides that will be over the hot coals from cook to cook. Or you can even take the side off that will be over the hot coals.

Postal Barbecue thank you for your feedback ! How you clean the porcelain coated part of the grill - the inside of the bowl ( behind the grill where the coals burns) ? It's really messy and i'm afraid that i will scratch the black surface and the porcelain will peal off . You use some special tools or a plastic ones ?

@@devourermastikator I know this is a late reply. I have this very same grill. Once the coals are finished burning I simply use a wooden ceder shingle to scrape the sides. I use a clean paint brush to push all the ashes into the ash collector. Then rinse it with the garden hose. Warm Soapy water helps remove grease build up. Use a sponge or rag.

  • @PostalBarbecue

Hey great question. I still really like it and it's holding up really well except for a little bit of paint flaking from the handle (possibly because attached a camera to it a few times. Haha). It is a tough call which one is better. I think the weber is a little more air tight which helps control temperatures, but this one has the cast iron grill with the adjustable levels which actually comes in really handy. I know that doesn't answer your question fully, but check out the link in the description it also has a cart option.

Hi there. I changed my Weber for this Napoleon Grill in 2014, and I don't regret any minute my choice. I use the grill around 30-50 times per year. On the other hand the cast iron grill is top notch, and with 3 levels of height and the possibility to fill aside while grilling it is a plus. I could never get my meat that well grilled with Weber. Plus the cover being sealed, you don't need to hang it on contrary of the Weber. It is a lot more practical. To me it is a clear yes for Napoleon. The only negative point is the aluminium painted foil at the top around the thermometer area. It loosed itself after 2 years, but I let it unprotected on winters in my balcony (in Germany). So I'm a bit responsible of the misfortune. Anyway it is just cosmetic damage, and has no incidence on the quality of grilling of this tool.
