Naples, Florida Walk in January 2023 (Pier, 5th Avenue, Tin City, Shops at Dockside)

Ойын-сауық

A walk through the city of Naples, Florida starting from the Naples Pier to the Shops at Dockside. Named after the Italian city of the same name, it features a relaxed atmosphere, numerous shopping and restaurant locations, and the most golf courses of any community in Florida. With a median age of 61, the population is primarily elderly. I check out the 5th Avenue area as well, and an art festival was happening during the same time I visited.

Tin City was the name given by a great friend Kenny Schriver, A very creative developer from Old Naples... The original buildings were part of the local fishing industry, back in the day all roofs were tin, even the City Dock, our City marina on 12th. Ave. South...I hope you don't mind me elaborating on the History of Old Naples, I've lived here for over 50 years 🌴🎨

I love Naples' 5th Avenue and beaches. My stepkids live nearby, so we take them once in a while. The pier was heavily damaged during Hurricane Ian. There was a small food kiosk in the middle of the pier 😢. On busy days, parking is really difficult. You have to get there early or park farther in the residential streets if you find something. The homes there are beautiful. Sometimes, we go in through a few Avenues down. Same gorgeous beach but fewer people. I think but not 100% sure that the lights are not put down. They keep them up all year long and turn on at night.

Hello Dee, you are right, some strands of lights stay up all year round... The next time you are near the pier, you may want to park in the 3rd. Street shops & Tommy Bahama parking are just around the cornner from the City parking lot ( for free ) 🙂

Great video, AK. I love Naples. While I love Miami, Naples lacks many of the lowlives that are in Miami. As with Miami though, it needs more fountains downtown. NY has them everywhere and is building more at 550 Madison and 270 Park. Tropical cities should have more.

Ive been going to Naples Pier for more than 50 years. Its changed so much .... my great grandpa moved to Naples from Ft. Myers in 1926. He would move as the Tamiami Trail was being built and pull the power lines. When I was a kid they would let us fish all night on the pier. Everything is different now. I decided to go live up where Daniel Boone lived in Tennessee.

I'm glad there's not much damage from Hurricane Ian, and it would be nice to see the pier after it's repaired. 43:50 The accordion player is so talented, and the music added to the ambience in the area, especially when he played "O Sole Mio"! 😍🪗 The light blue and yellow buildings at Tin City and the Shops at Dockside remind me of Key West. Speaking of landscaping, I notice a lot of brown on the hedges, probably the result of hours of submersion in salt water. At least some of that "new" construction along Gulf Shore Blvd. is probably REconstruction. The real mansions are not only to the south in Port Royal but also to the north of the section of Olde Naples you're in.

One of the most overpriced cities I have seen in the USA with regards to restaurants, bars and shopping. The fact that I can find better food, better retail and much better bars in big cities like New York for in some cases, far less money speaks volumes of Naples. And it’s not a question of whether I can afford to, but whether or not there’s any value in it. Naples represents terrible value in nearly every aspect of life. Case in point, had to go see a dentist for a minor filling, $428??? The most expensive dentists in Manhattan don’t charge those kind of prices. No wonder so many residents travel back to their original locals for dental treatments.
