These two are incredible singing live together! Their voices blend beautifully. Nancy recorded this song of Jerry Jeff’s on her 1994 Grammy winning album “Other Voices, Other Rooms.” Then she did concerts where she sometimes was lucky enough to duet with the singer/songwriters she’d covered on the album. It’s hard to believe that she is gone. 💔

Such a soft touching song. Nanci’s soft harmony enriches Jeff’s rich voice and emotion and makes this song so profound that it lifts the song to a whole new level. One of those timeless songs.

I've always loved this song. What a thrill for an aging Jerry Jeff Walker to sing this song to an admiring fan and woman as lovely and beautiful as Nanci Griffith. It appears that both of them were emotionally touched by the experience.

This song is so sweet and so intimate that only the feelings felt could give an idea, and not the words that can be written... Sometimes it seems to me that this song has moved forward the boundaries of tenderness and sweetness expressed with a song.. A song is of a tenderness that only a few such intense songs reach, I perceive a very, very deep intimacy. I just want to say this, that in addition to the song that completely envelops my heart, I love how Nanci approaches to the song and the show: how much respect, how much grace, how much candor, how much delicacy and not "intrusiveness" that Nanci shows. And Nanci with a little more than whispered voice, how well it combines with Walker's voice: it's wonderful. This song and show are a gem. Nanci I Love You so much ❤️

It's true John, I love Nanci for many reasons and one of these is the honesty she has and respect for other musicians ... I listened to many live interpretations of songs that Nanci sings written by other musicians, and before singing reiterates the author's name and praises the song... I think Nanci is much loved by other songwriters .. Roseville Fair is a marvel, and Nanci sings that can't possible it better.

As the morning light stretched in across my bed, I thought of you mmhmm Remembering your laughing eyes and all we said, I love you too mmhmm As all my thoughts of you pass 'fore my face a thousand times The way they race my heart I cannot say it all in lines How the short time together lasts so long, makes me strong mmhmm As two weeks came and went then you and I were gone, living on mmhmm For it seems our love was destined to be caught in other nets But the love we held so brief, I'd chance again, without regret Yes, standing by the road has been my song before, much too long mmhmm But now somehow I'm forced to see me there once more, and that's the song mmhmm And my waking thoughts of you are but extensions of the dream Without you here beside me, I'll never know all that they mean As the morning light stretched in across my bed, I thought of you mmhmm Remembering your laughing eyes and all we said, I love you too mmhmm As all my thoughts of you pass 'fore my face a thousand times The way they race my heart I cannot say it all in lines
