Naming a Memory Channel | Anytone AT-778UV | Retevis RT-95 | CRT Micron
Ғылым және технология
In this video I show you how to manually enter & name a memory channel on your Anytone AT-778UV radio, this radio in particular is also sold under different brands and this will work on the Retevis RT-95 and CRT Micron respectively.
I have already done a video previously showing how to manually program this radio without the need for programming software - and I really should have covered naming the memory channels after.

Great job, made this so much easier than reading the manual. Thanks for the chapter markers too!
Once again you made it all look so easy 👍
This is a lovely little radio and very easy to program on the radio or computer , you can down load free software from anytone but make sure you use the latest version as of now 3.01
very helpful I am marking this to my save list

Excellent presentation Mike, thank you.
The manual for the AT-778UV uses English words, but the syntax and context are undecipherable. Thank you, Mike, for the videos on programming, saving to memory and naming a memory channel. Well done and much appreciated.

This radio is available now (July 2021) from various sources as: Anytone AT-778UV, Retevis RT-95, CRT Micron UV and Midland DBR2500. Some arrive "Unlocked" for the North American Band plan; some do not. There are a few YT videos describing how to handle that. I think all of these sources offer the Owner's Manual and the Programming Software as a free download now. There is now a Ver. 2 and a Ver. 3 and you need to know if yours is the "RDW" or the "VOX" version. CHIRP works very well now IF (and only IF) you select the correct version for your particular radio.

when naming a channel if you do a typo, how do you delete a letter?
I'm in search of access to the service menu. I would like to trim the low & medium power levels.
Do you know how to get your call sign on display on booting radio any information would be great Tia John
@OnTheMicwithMike

Many thanks for the very kind words John. Much appreciated. As for adding your call sign to the boot up message, you’ll need the programming software to do that. Whether you use the Anytone software or Chirp there’s an option there in settings that allow you to change it and upload to the radio. 73’ and stay safe.
Is there no way to bring up the frequency that is attached to that channel name with out jumping back through all of those menu hoops? TIA 73 KN6ZVI

Hello again, Mike. I'm slowly getting a chance to finish programming my radio. One thing I can not find is how to delete a memory channel?
@OnTheMicwithMike
Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you can’t. You can write over a previously saved memory channel, I think. But the only way to delete a memory is to use a computer and programming software.

@OnTheMicwithMike ok, thanks. The CPS may be fine, but the cable that came with it is a piece of....well you know. It amazes me that a company would send a cable without all the drivers and put us through the headache we endure
@OnTheMicwithMike
Жыл бұрын
@@bwmcofc absolutely. The issue I've found is the driver for these cables the PL2023 driver I believe, is no longer supported or works in Windows 11. I had to replace a couple of cables with an FTDi chip for it to work now. Which as usual costs a fair bit more than the standard older ones.
Can you have the Alpha Tagging and Freq Showing in the Display, or is it one or the other? Thanks

Hi Stephan, unfortunately not. 73’
Just setting up same radio and also stored Gb3iw but noticed you have it set to narrow. How do I find out wether a repeater needs narrow or wide pls
@OnTheMicwithMike
3 жыл бұрын
All repeaters are usually narrow FM. Wide just brings in a lot of noise. You can use either but NFM generally gives a better reception.

Is a gmrs license legal to operate radio

Only on GMRS specific frequencies. For amateur radio (2m and 70cm) you’ll need your ham radio license.
Good afternoon! I want to adjust the channel name so that it can be seen in frequency mode along with other frequencies, and not switch to CH mode/Is it possible?
@OnTheMicwithMike

If you dive into the menu on the radio, you can set the radio to display channel name, channel number or frequency readout. So you can have it display the frequency readout in channel mode. Hope it helps!

You need to turn it on to display the channel name. Press the FUNC button. Select menu item 1 - FUNC menu, then go down to menu number 3 - DSP and you can select to show frequency, channel or name readout from there.

Go to the channel you want to delete, short press the ‘func’ key to switch function group and you’ll see on screen a button for ‘V/M’. Press the buttons for ‘V/M’ and ‘func’ together for 2 seconds and that saved channel will be deleted.

Yep. Go to the channel you want to delete from memory, short press FUNC key and then press and hold V/M function key together at the same time with the func key for 2 secs. Channel should delete and move onto the next channel.

It is quite possible since this video was done that a newer firmware version is on these radios that may have changed things. I can’t update mine as since windows has stopped support for the programming cable driver, I can no longer update FW at the moment.
