Thanks for sharing your thoughts - I did however grow up in Nairobi also and lived there for nearly 10 years of my life. To be honest, I prefer to hang out in all kinds of areas of the city, including South C and West Nairobi where I spent lots of my hanging out with some of my truly amazing Kenyan friends eating lots of nyama choma. Also the point is that despite our economic level, it's food and friendships that bring us together. This is not a vacation tourism video.

I must agree. I was there from 2008 to 2010 and loved every waking moment of it!
Haha, thanks for watching, glad to hear you love all these foods too. My stomach was fine, never had a problem in Nairobi, but I guess since I grew up there, my stomach is quite accustomed to the bacteria. Happy eating!

Asante Chaddy! I really appreciate you watching and thank you very much for the kind comment. I lived in Nairobi for about 10 years when I was growing up and went to Rosslyn. What school did you go to? Do you go back to visit?
Thank you so much for your support, I truly appreciate it! I fully agree, Nairobi is so much and has so much more to offer than what mainstream media often gives it credit for. I really love the city. Are you from Nairobi?
Hey Nur, thanks a lot for watching. I probably won't stop traveling for a while, but I do travel slowly and stay in one place for a while at a time! Hope you're doing well!
No problem, thank you for watching!

Hey, I do a combination of freelance blogging, writing, photography, video, and now I've started doing some social media for a few restaurants. Basically I do a bunch of random freelance things. I love to travel, and also I live on a tourist visa, so have to travel around all the time. Thanks for subscribing and watching!
Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind comment!

Thanks for watching. No, I didn't get sick, but I did grow up in Kenya, I lived there for 8 years so I do have a stomach that is accustomed to the local food. Hope you have a chance to visit Nairobi!
Love this. One of the first videos about Kenya that I've seen that actually delves into more about everyday things than just nature. Thank you. I screamed when you mentioned Nairobi West since its where I'm from. Now all that Nyama choma and Indian food is making me hungry
@fjt108 Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your comment and for you taking the time to watch my videos. This video was shot with a Sanyo Xacti, not external microphone. However, if you check my channel and see my more recent videos, I now use a Canon 550D DSLR camera - takes much better quality HD video, but I still have no microphone - hoping for one soon!
@patton223 Hehe, thanks so much for checking it this video out! I have been quite fortunate with an iron stomach!
I appreciate your kind words, thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. I think a lot of people that visit Nairobi really miss some of the best things about it, like just enjoying some nyama choma and hanging out. Are you living in Nairobi still?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed this video!
Thank you very much for watching. I formerly lived in Nairobi, but not anymore. Have a great trip back next year!

Great video...you showed Nairobi as it is for many middle and lower class Kenyans.I expected some jambo *a word we don't even use in the 21st century* and safari video....thanks a lot
Cool to hear that, thank you for watching. My mouth is watering just thinking about Burger Hut and that wonder sauce!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the tips... yes, since making this video I've improved my gear, so hopefully getting better! A tripod can really make a big difference. Do you do videos as well?

@976aguilera No problem, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching Terrence. Enjoy that nyama choma!
This brings back memories. I have been to Kenya and stayed in Tanzania for 5 months of my life.
Yes! Growing up in Africa, I used to change my accent talking to lots of people from different cultures, so I still change my accent without thinking about it. But it helps to communicate!
Thank you so much for watching!
Its amazing to see Mark and his friend James back in the days and 8 yrs later they meet and still enjoy Nairobi street food , that's true friendship.
@Utadowot Thanks a lot for watching!
I'm a Kenyan and I think you gave a fair description of Nairobi, only thing missing is matatu culture (crazy grafiti, sound system and art in passenger vehicles).
I was born and raised in South Africa, and what you said about the rich employing the poor, and the poor responsible for the churning of the economy is the same across Africa. Still such an incredible continent. With so much to offer, and wonderful amazing people.
Mark, you are so humble and I've been a suscriber for almost 11 years and I have to say, you have come a long way and I'm very proud of you ♥
Mark, you have so come far...seeing this video from ages ago and the music 🎶 playing brings my childhood memories back! Thanks Mark and God bless you
That feeling you described there at the start is exactly what I feel when I get to Nairobi
Next ur in Kenya mark try MUTURA ,it's the best African street food sausage 😋😋😋

Omgosh Mark! I actually love the tone of this video. I was in kenya in 2015 on a missions trip and its basically changed me. I've put myself through 2 years of film school to go back next year to make a doco. I've been following you for ages and i think this is old school doco style is awesome. Lol and that HAIR MARK! BRING IT BACK!
on behalf of Kenya, thanks for visiting my country and your comments on life in Nairobi are on point
I had great friends from Nairobi. I happened to know the Mayor of the city back 10 yrs ago. People are great! We had a dinner at the football field if am not mistaken. I ate the same plates with the guys i was with that time. You evaluated the city precisely.
What awesome tips you have here. I'm going to watch more.

I really enjoyed your monologues explaining Nairobi, coming from your experience growing up here. I love how you really get into the street food and explain the flavors...makes me wish I was there to taste it too!
Thank you for watching!
Mark you're a cool dude, you tried to blend in and do things like the locals. If I didn't know any better I'd probably think you're from that region. Thanks for the vid I'm a foodie just like you and want to get a job in tourism travel just like you.

I'm sorry, I really do not know the answer to your question. Perhaps it would be a good idea to ask that question in a forum - like at Lonely Planet or Trip Advisor. Hope you can find the info you're looking for!
Yah, I understand that - it's really up to the individual and if one is visiting for the very first time, it is better to play it a bit safer. However, even in hole in the wall places you can still often find hot fresh food - like nyama choma (roasted meat) and chips.
🔥🔥 Lit! Lit! Love your work. We have been watching your Kenyan content for a while now. We would love to see more of you and James. Thanks! Baraka tele!
Hahaha, thank you! Hope you have an awesome trip to Kenya!
Well, thank you for watching anyways!
9 years down. Damn! I'm defo hooked onto this channel now.
Yah, it's true. Many of my African friends are the most hospitable, kind and friendly people I've ever met.
Your old videos captured the heart of the place.enjoyed some of your old videos
@soundbeans Thanks, cool to hear that you live in Nairobi! It's a small clip from Nameless.
Awesome, glad to hear you're heading back!
@chrise9172 Thanks for sharing and cool to hear you had Ethiopian food at your wedding - that's a great choice! I'll have to check out Seasons next time in Nairobi.
No often, but yes, I have gotten sick from street food a few times before. I normally try to stick to hotter, freshly cooked things.
Oh, yah, they do have some big portions, but you can always share with friends or just ask for a smaller helping so there's no waste.
I was wandering when you started rolling with your eyes , I found the first video. Next, oh wow. Much love from the Netherlands all.
Hey, I try to stick with hot food that's served fresh. I haven't gotten too sick!
