To be honest., growing up in Lebanon was kinda chaotic. I experienced order after immigrating to the U.S. Kenya in some instances reminds me of Lebanon which is why I easily adapt.
The problem is, we don't have laws about service animals. It's not a thing in Kenya. Most people won't even understand what it means

@@RichardDebs Yea, just like mental health used be laughed off especially by men but these days there is enough awareness that even a guy would suggest to a fellow guy to go to therapy if they notice their friend is not okay. Mental health treatment in Kenya was normalized by Psychiatrist campaigning and creating awareness through Tv and Radio. If they did the same for Emotional support Animals then it will stop being a foreign concept to the average Kenyan.

We Do have Service animal laws in Kenya. Ask your lawyer... I am writing to educate you about the service animal laws in Kenya. These laws are important to know because they protect the rights of people with disabilities who rely on service animals. The Constitution of Kenya guarantees the right to equality and freedom from discrimination. This includes the right of people with disabilities to access public spaces and services. Service animals are considered to be assistive devices, and they are protected by the Constitution. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1962 also protects the rights of service animals. This Act prohibits the mistreatment of animals, and it specifically states that service animals are not to be subjected to cruelty. The following are some of the key provisions of the service animal laws in Kenya: People with disabilities have the right to bring their service animals with them into public places, such as schools, hospitals, restaurants, and shops. Service animals must be well-behaved and under the control of their handler at all times. Service animals are not to be refused entry to any public place. People with disabilities who are denied entry to a public place because of their service animal may file a complaint with the Kenya Human Rights Commission. I urge all Kenyan citizens to learn about the service animal laws in Kenya. These laws are important to protect the rights of people with disabilities who rely on service animals. Bringing dogs into a restaurant is always a big issue even in the United States. Even if you have a service dog many restaurants still have issues. So don't feel bad. But also, in Kenya and Africa at large many people still see dogs as not pets but protective animals guarding their premises. Very few places let dogs in restaurants around the world.

Maybe contact KISE as they are a government department. They are policy makers for special needs education, advocacy etc. They might be able to assist with research and policy development if they feel there is a need for a new policy for animals. We do not even have seeing- eye dogs in Kenya so this would be a great and new step forward.

And? I still love it and it's friendly people. I see improvements in infrastructure. Maybe not as fast as some might like but the city continues to take a crack at the issues.
I'm sorry but I have never liked any kind of animals in a restaurant!! I have worked in the hospitality industry and it shouldn't be allowed... When you're in another country you have to abide by the rules of their country!!! Remember its not America...we can agree to disagree..you don't even see animals in the city in Africa...at least I haven't
@RichardDebs
11 ай бұрын
I totally understand your position and I respect each country's position. However, that doesn't mean that I will not challenge positions which I think ought to be changed. I'm not suggesting that restaurants allow pets. I however am suggesting that restaurants do allow service animals. I think that a blind person should be allowed to enter a restaurant with a trained service dog which helps them navigate their environment. Cuse is a trained service dog who calms my anxiety when flying. He senses when I'm getting nervous and puts his paws on my chest to help calm me down. I think there is a role for service animals to play in Kenya.

I understand completely but you are in another Country and what they say goes...They can go as far as telling you that if you don't like their rules then you shouldn't be there...I'm just saying...I've seen where Americans go to other countries and try to change the rules and they're simply not having it!!! well...I wish you luck@@RichardDebs
