You walked back to the start in the valley? Yikes. That would have been big effort! I remember the never ending bumps and then the knee/hip depth snow on the exit. But we had a car on Powderface Trail to shuttle back to the start. The Elbow is open. Let the fun begin.

Yes I was solo so it was the right decision to take that route back. Wish I took snowshoes for the snow in the creek, seemed never ending and ended up taking me a few hours to get out of it. Looking forward to doing lots of peaks in that area, first time at little elbow.
