Nadira037 | DIY | High Low Maxi Circle Skirt Tutorial

NEW sewing tutorial for this High Low Maxi Circle Skirt. This is not my first circle skirt tutorial so I did a quick explanation on how to draft your pattern. Definitely check out my other tutorials for more detailed info. You can watch my DIY Maxi Dress Tutorial here starting at 5:24 for the explanation. I also have a tutorial on how to make a circle skirt using a bed sheet, one of my faves.

Nice easy-to-follow tutorial. I do have a few suggestions, however. First, as many others have commented, either use different coloured paper or a different coloured background to make things easier to see. Second, if you sew the back seam of the waistband first and then sew the bottom edges together, you'll end up with a much nicer look with the back seam hidden inside. Third, any time you make a skirt or dress that has a hem cut on the bias (circle skirts obviously fall into this category), it's always best to let them hang from a skirt hanger for a couple of days before hemming. This will give the garment time to stretch out along the bias and you can then double-check the hem and recut the necessary areas to make it even again. This is such an important step that often goes forgotten even in some professional garments. Trust me, though, it makes all the difference in the world!

This is so beautiful. I will definitely try this, once I get space to set my sewing machine out. I feel like the more drastic high-low skirts just look so weird on me, so something more modest and subtle is a perfect way to wear something trendy without feeling self-conscious.

You are the first black sewist I've found on youtube, I've been watching your videos for hours and you've inspired me to finally save up for a sewing machine. I can't wait to make my first circle skirt with pockets! I'm a little obsessed with pockets in skirts. I love your videos. :)

What does black has to do with this? Does colour make a different 🤔? I really don't know why skin colour has to be mentioned.

This skirt is so beautiful! 😍 I love how it's a high-low, but the length change isn't awkward or drastic. It kinda reminds me of Late Victorian/Edwardian walking skirts. It's long and elegant but there's not excess fabric that you can trip on, and you can show off some cute shoes. 😍 And the way that you explain everything so thoroughly and have visuals is everything! Thank you so much for sharing! ... Also can we take a moment to appreciate how tiny and adorable the proportions are to fit your cute little girl!?! My inner monologue just kept saying, "Awwwww! It's so tiny!". Lol. B.T.Dubs, I love lamp! 😘

I wanted a hi-lo maxi circle due to my rear lifting the back of my skirts so drastically. Lo and behold, you came through! I'm still working out the logistics of the bedsheet circle skirt. I'm a brand-newbie, so it's taking a bit of time and meditation, but one day, I'll be able to send you pics of creations you inspired. Much love, and you're welcome to come to Sumter and give me lessons...😉

Alhamdulilah! This is stunning! I am going to attempt to make this for Eid Al-Adha inshaa'Allah 🙏🏽 Thank you so much for all you do! You have no idea how you have helped me gain the confidence to cut fabric ✂️ I used to be so scared I was going to ruin my fabric, but you make it look so easy and you take all the fear out of it. If you can, I'd love to see how you'd make this into a dress while keeping the waistband...if that is even possible... Shukran in advance! May Allah continue to bless you and increase your knowledge! Ameen 🙌🏽🙏🏽

How come the waistband stretches? I know the jersey is stretchy, but the thread isn't. Whenever I try to make a skirt, I can't put it on because the stitching of the skirt to the waistband doesn't allow the fabric to stretch for me to fit through.
