NAD M10 V2 Streaming Amp Makes Old-Fashioned Hi-Fi Receivers Obsolete - Take 2 (Ep:44)
Ғылым және технология
On March 15, 2022, Vince Hanada reviewed the NAD Masters M10 V2 on SoundStageSimplifi.com and wrote: “In spite of its diminutive size, the NAD Masters M10 V2 is a powerhouse. It has the versatility to be the central piece of a modern audio system-you can add almost any component you can think of, and even connect it to your TV. You don’t need to use a source component; you can just stream high-resolution audio from local storage or an internet service through BluOS. I found the integration of BluOS to be complete and robust, with no glitches or issues when streaming over Wi-Fi.”
Besides listening, we measured the M10 V2 in our lab as well. You can read the full review and access the measurements here: www.soundstagesimplifi.com/in...
In this episode of Take 2, Jay Lee gives you his unique insights into the NAD Masters M10 V2. Watch to find out what he thinks of it-and how it stacks up against its competition.

Good detail information regarding the M10 V2 streamer amp and the BluOs app. I also like the “teaser” concept 50 in the background. Look forward to the review. 😊
Buried in the Main Dirac manual (32 pages) is a sentence, "since Dirac correction tends to attenuate the bass please grab the left handle and increase the low end bass 6 db." Dirac eliminates the 10 to 12 dB room gain that most rooms have in the bass frequencies. Also make sure your Dirac is updated to rhe newest 3.3 version since it automatically give you at least a 3 dB kick in the low frequencies.

Good point. That was my experience. Also, for some reason, although I have the base Dirac, it somehow had significant effect on the Mid-range and imaging . Also, when I disabled Dirac, the balance was way off. I finally had to reset the unit. If I use Dirac again, I will cough up the $99 and get the full version.

Doug. It's in the latest (11.4.22) Dirac Live user manual, in the section onTarget Curves, sections 6.8.2 and 6.8 3 Nad uses their own target curve for Dirac which ads the 6db bump, but you have to download and install it as your preferred target curve. The newest update of Dirac has a newer version of the system which ads a little of this automatically. It uses a shelf system and you just grab the left handle and pull it up 6db and Dirac makes a nice smooth curve.

@@richardramorino3319 That's interesting to hear. I still have to look it up. The NAD target curve undoubtedly comes as a result of Paul Barton's input into it -- which was derived from the tests on in-room response that NRC did many years ago. That 6dB lift was shown to be the winning factor in many listening tests.
Good review Jay!!
Looking forward to hearing one of these units, as I have BluOs already with the Vault 2i. Never thought that it was for larger rooms, in my case it's for the upstairs second system to improve TV sound and streaming. Thanks Jay, liked the information 😀
I own this unit and pretty much agree with everything with some qualifications about the bass issue. On that, we must remember that the Hegel and Atoll are known to be rich in the low end and that most other amps come up short in comparison with them. With that being said, I find that my Yamaha n803 does sound “bassier” than the M10, but not as controlled as the NAD, if that is indeed what I’m hearing. Let’s call it my experience. In the end, I boosted the bass by 1.5dB and patched in a sub. You might have added that the M10 has true “bass management” in that it high passes the mains as well as low for the sub. That’s a great feature that few other stereo amps have. It can’t be easy to review something that has Dirac and to remember to specify whether your experiences are with it in use or not, Jay. I’m going to assume the latter. Great second take. I sampled this vs. the Naim Uniti Star and chose to keep the M10. They didn’t sound terribly different and the NAD is just so much more feature rich (with home integration as well, it must be said) that it was a no-brainer.

I bought the M10V2 about a month ago and love it. I replaced a 20 year old Krell integrated that I loved but don't miss at this point. Jay, I think if you used the subwoofer function with one or two subs and tweaked it with the crossover as Bill suggests, you would find the bass to be very strong in the lowest octaves. I'm currently using my M10 with a pair of B&W 705S2's and one SVS Micro 3000 sub. The bass rolls off beautifully and the neutrality of the M10 with the slight lively high end of the B&W's feel like a nice balance. I'm very tempted to invest in a 2nd sub. I have not set up the Dirac room correction yet. One comment I will make is Bluesound/NAD documentation is lacking. Both the "Complete" manual and the quick setup guide are very basic and hold back a lot of important information the system is capable of.

@@NBPT428 I hear you. Thing is that these things are hard to write a manual for as they are constantly evolving with firmware updates. It’s to Apple’s credit that they update the manual with each iOS version. That takes a lot of effort and must be done in many languages.

Can you choose music, group other rooms and change the volume for all the other rooms from the touchscreen of the M10?

Each group's volume can be controlled via the BluOs application. You can fine-tune even further by selecting the volume for each speakers in the group to strike the perfect balance.

I am on the fence as well. I order the M10 V2 today. If it doesn’t have enough power when it comes in I’ll exchange it for the C399. I will note that the M10 has a new and better Dac Chip
Thx. Great review :) sub and like for You :)
How would the M10v2 be as a pre-amp/streamer out to a power amp. I have a Cambridge Audio 851W that puts out 375 watts per channels at 4ohms. Currently paired to Focals that are efficient, but I do switch out with a pair of Magnepan LRS.

DEE-rac.. named after the physicist Paul Dirac, a founder of quantum mechanics.
There’s one big thing he didn’t mention. RELIABILITY. I owned the NAD T778 with the same beautiful screen but a complete receiver. Mine had the Hypex amp modules. I bought mine used at 7 months old and it was without a doubt the BEST audio experience I’ve ever experienced and then seven months later I started getting popping sounds and receiver would go into protection mode. Finally it became unusable. NAD customer support is basically non-existent and they’re ridiculously expensive to fix. NAD has always had a bad reputation for reliability. NAD= Not Always Dependable. So, I just ordered an Arcam AVR21 and I know the screen won’t be as nice. The software probably won’t be as good. I just need the sound to be good and reliability to be good and it’s starting to sound like I might lose the sound quality. To explain this to people. I have an upper end B&W speakers and I use an external amp. The sound good with anything but with the NAD, you can hear the singer’s breath. You can hear an acoustic guitar string being plucked. That’s what this guy is saying and I hope I can achieve that with Arcam but I’m worried I won’t be able to. Hope this helps everyone.
I own the V2 and it's an incredible amp. I do not however recommend using Dirac as it changes the characteristics of your speaker. I do not want the sound curve of a B&W when running my Sonus Faber's. I want my Sonus Faber's to sound like Sonus Faber's. Yes, you get more settings via the touch screen. BluOS only provides a subset.

I have also the NAD M10v2 and decided to use it as streamer and preamp, adding two monoblocks to the systems. I am bypassing the Hypex amplification of the M10V2 and using the Purifi module of my Class D Monoblocks. Dirac is now off and the sound is clearer and more controlled.
I recognize this is old. However, If you are reviewing something, you should stay on topic then achieve more views via a separate video explaining the metamorphosis.
