I WANTED A VINTAGE STEREO RECEIVER BUT CHOSE THIS INSTEAD! NAD C3050

Ғылым және технология

The NAD C3050 has been called Future-Fi but since I have no idea what that means I am just gonna say it’s the future of the vintage stereo receiver. The modern vintage amp that is in my personal collection, so it must be good!

I kinda like the silver trim Leaks. Reminds me of an old Panasonic speaker I found had that exact same style of trim. Probably from the 60's.

Super nice store and products, Lenny! I just wished that NAD was a class A/B amp like it's predecessor. Let's say 2x100watts into 8ohm, dual mono, and a big toroidal transformer with that classic NAD sound. You know, a real retro amp inside and out. I'll dream on..lol. Greetings from Denmark. /Chris.

I was really interested in the 3050 but it didn't have the inputs I needed. I need two tape in and outs along with two phono prees. I love the vintage look with the power meters, that's really what attracted me to this receiver.

What vintage looking CD played would you recommend putting with the 3050. Also, tell Tom to stop playing with his beard. I used to have a mustache and did the same thing so I shaved it off. It drove me nuts.

Would the Yamaha RN2000a hold its own up against this NAD in dynamics, power and ability to play loud? I’m seriously considering the RN2000a for a all in one. However am worried about it not being powerful enough. Thanks!

WOW! we americans (read: you & they) have it great! yep, i'm very jealous, i can admit it.

I think a device can be considered a receiver in today’s age by including a preamp, an amp and a streamer and or a tuner. A tuner is a source, a streamer is a source. More people stream in 2024 than use a tuner. It’s all marketing either way. Integrated amplifiers with streamer vs receiver. I say it could be called the same thing in 2024.

i forget to refer that i have a integrated amplifier from New Acoustic dimention with power meters (needles) and have other from early 80´s or mid and both have incredible better sound than this new, but now all expensive amplifiers have a very low quality of sound except two catalogs ago ,there was a yamaha without any display but real 70watts r.m.s. per channel at 8ohms, a friend of mine that as mental issues if i say "you can buy any but this one don´t buy it ,doesn´t sound good and very expensive "that´s what is going to buy ,some years ago he went to my home and i put a cd(PD-S901from pioneer) to record on my CT-959 from pioneer and in a minidisc MD-J707 from pioneer ,using a tdk ma-xg and tdk black md(doesn´t matter but it happened)after he couldn´t notice diference from any source this using some HPM-1100 from early 80´s ,than he buys a arcam alpha that was so good that couldn´t fire my tannoys 605 (late 80´s, pentagonal shape )and he buys some 50watts tannoy´s that had 50 watts and because it was a arcam alpha it didn´t had the so precious highs that he thinks it´s how better is the sound if you hear only high´s but than he says to me "i´m going to buy a turntable" but he only had a plastic pioneer from 1983 and doesn´t work , i told him what not to buy a pro-ject without ground wire and as all that don´t need ground wire it made a strong hum and had the 2mred from ortofon and now he says that the turntable doesn´t sound better than the cd player ,i only replied "i told you " than he asks me if a DRS-800 from Denon is a good deck ,i told him ,"it´s the worst i ever heard ,doesn´t have calibration" he bought it but i went to his home and notice that the deck was having some trouble recording tdk sa from the 90´s sealed, i told him "it neds new belts" next day he phones me and says "the belts are expectacular" and i asked him ,how did you knew that they are good ?,he didn´t reply and i know it was the first time he opened a deck in his life, than he tells me "bought a revox B215 and it doesn´t sound so good as my denon ,i found it strange i have sveral decks and maybe one of the best decks built ever is the B215 ,i asked him how did you set the level first thing to do when calibrating a B215 ,he tells me "what?" so he thinks that the cheapest deck ever made works like the best deck ever made and it´s true if he didn´t calibrate the deck than he tells me but in one day made 1.000€ and tells me sold it to that guy that used to writte in a music newspapper called Blitz ,i know the guy and next day on OLX Portugal site i putted it to sell for 5.000€ and sold it in two days ,the deck belonged to a old person who was sick and sold all cheap, but he won 3500€ in two days, 1000€+500€(what my friend paid ) he sold for a perfectelly working B215, now he see´s your videos and says you don´t know nothing about hi-fi because has i have a entire room filled with good 70´s material he says it´s trash and you show a lot of 70´s equipment on your other channel. and more ridiculous is at night there were some girls and friends of mine that he only knows because i said to them that he was my friend and he asks a guy that studied with me in highschool had a band (we all had) ,he don´t because he only liked wham, modern talking ,europe and italo disco from the 80´s and our bands were all punk mixed with psychedelic rock, that he don´t consider it music, the guy after he throws at him, two referencies ,he replies "the hell i know ,but don´t you know Rui(me) ask him ,he´s the guy i know who knows more about hi-fi ",and he don´t even told me only later a girl told me what had happened, he´s the type that if you say one thing is good ,he replies the oposite is better, like i told him when he bought a new Ford that had white display and the r.p.m. counter didn´t had red line ,in 3 years with maybe 200.000kms the car spent more oil than gasoline in a 400kms trip and others have the same car that made 700.000km´s and still working good but his at the end of 3 years was done because i told him to take care and never go over 5.000r.p.m´s he said to me that if it wasn´t there it´s because i was wrong so a regular car was capable of 10.000r.p.m.´s ,ferrari´s only one model could but you couldn´t take it from ferrari ,you paid 1.000.000 €´s and told them where or which circuit you wanted ferrari to take your car and with a team of mechanics to assist one that bought it ,so his ford sierra diesel was like that ferrari and a Ford Sierra only 3 years and almost no km´s of driving in a car that makes easilly 500.000km´s without any fixing, went to a junkyard, i either than hi-fi i colect cars also, girls i´m old can´t get them and have granddaughters with more than 20 years old, so i stoped colecting them but if i´m old i think i´m going to restart to consume hard drugs has i did from 16 till i was 50 when married my 5th wife, more than 20 years clean and no alcohol only smoke like a horse but never saw a horse smoking

@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard Not only do the Lintons measure better with their gilles on (just ask Erin from Erin's Corner), they are also designed to prevent speaker diffraction (caused by the baffle frame). Just ask Peter Comeau who designed the Lintons, Dentons 85 and the LEAKs.

I don't think the cartoons do much good, if any. One thing that is highly advisable, but rarely practical, is situating speakers that are to be compared at (approximately) the same height --- not one atop the other --- and equal distances apart, which means arranging them A,B ...... A, B rather than A, B ..... B, A. The shop I worked at 44 years ago had the same difficulty, but we Tried to make it as fair as possible.

Definitely get that theory with the speakers. I enjoying stacking for me just having fun, but yeah not sure I’d do customer demos that way. But personally I don’t care where anything’s positioned, makes me have more confidence in something if it’s great when it shouldn’t be. But great point!!
