I once when only 19 or 20 years old did a very stupid thing with sodium peroxide. I mixed it with magnesium powder and filled a 10 ml medicine vial that had a hard plastic snap on cap with a small hole in it, half full and dropped it in a shallow stream of water. When a small drop of the water interned, it produced a tremendous explosion sending water high into the air. After doing this two or three times and seeing the violence of the reaction it finally soaked into my youthful brain just how dangerous this stupid action was. I am so glade at 75 I still have all my fingers.

The last reaction : Na2O2 being an oxidizer, will make POCl3 as a product and Pcl5 a chlorinating agent, will produce NaCl, thus we have : 2Na2O2 + 2PCl5 > 2POCl3 + 4NaCl + O2 Some oxygen will be released.

Been there, 28 years ago :-) Sodium peroxide + sulfur = three weeks in a hospital with facial burns. I glad for my eyeglasses - the lenses surfaces are melted but my eyes are to survive. The temperature of the flash is high enough to burn very thin outer layer of the skin only - epidermis - so it starts literally peel off immediately (like after sunburn recovery). Overall, I am considering myself lucky - only partial 2nd degree facial burn, only 2 small scars to remind for.. After that i understand that chemistry is no joke - you can EASY maimed yourself or even killed! ALWAYS STAY SAFE WHATEWER YOU DO!

to bleech skin you only need about 3% solution. Using 30% will be corrosive and cause severe burns Using powder with react with moisture on skin and not be pretty - severe burns, and with enough powder, will start eating into the flesh as more moisture exposed, perhaps catch fire.(not sure, but the organic chemicals and oxygen produced, maybe ?)

The thing is we have differentiated the concepts of the reaction scheme and the reaction equation. Usually, arrows are used in organic reactions, no questions, I agree. If the stoichiometric coefficients are arranged and the reaction equation shows the quantity of the reacting substances and products, is logical use the equal sign, I think. On the other hand the arrow looks more chemically and your suggestion to replace equal sign has the meaning ;)
