At nights my wife and I will sit in our hammock and Hum his songs lucky to have been born in that era

55 years ago, I played this song on a juke box at Matunga (Bombay) restaurant to announce my crush to a friend Ms.Vandana Majumdar (Bulla). She just smiled and said "you are no Dev Anand nor I am Waheeda Rehman". She was a teacher at a nursery school and I was a trainee engineer. Let us see where we end up. The song reminds me of Bulla and I miss her.

He had a great voice but is not that great a singer. However, he was an exceptional music director.

Simply it is speechless. I had 6/7 occassions to hear Hemant da's live programs. He used to sing about 30 songs at a stretch and appeared in the stage as a last participant of that programme and finished his last song when light was peeping in the dark eastern sky . After finishing his programme thousands and thousands of mesmerized audience used to leave the auditorium most silently on the verge of dawn. A Devine atmosphere reigned in the auditorium. In the year 1967, I was a student of class IX,I wrote a fan letter in Bengali to Hemant da at his Bombay address and this was promptly replied by him alongwith a photograph signed by him in Bengali. Very simple and tall Hemant da was not only a great musician or singer, he was also a great human being. Today is 16th.of June, his 102 birth day. Many respectful salutes and pranams to him.

Growing up at the southern tip of India in Thiruvananthapuram in the 1950s, I knew no word of Hindi. That is when I heard this gem of a song for the first time on Vividh Bharathi in its nightly broadcast of songs. I Got hooked, and over the years, as my fluency in Hindi increased, enjoyed it maybe a million times! Hemantada's divine, soothing voice fills my heart with peace and happiness. I yearn for his return for a second, longer innings!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hemant Kumar never became so popular as Kishore or Rafi, but he never wanted to be popular... Amazing personality and voice. All his songs are true-to-heart and comes from deep inside. The newer generations will unfortunately never appreciate the talent.

This performance was broadcasted on Doordarshan many years ago, in the 80's. I watched this program on my neighbour's Black & White television. That was the time when very few families had televisions in their homes. Those days were Golden Days and are still in my memories.

Hemanta Mukherjee sang 12 songs of Burman S, later for some reason Burmanda never called him again(Told Hemanta Mukherjee). Burmanda was a little bit strange.

An excellent composer and a gifted singer. He has entertained many people with his melodious voice. 👍💖

My Dad a big fan of Hemant Da, Mukesh & Talat Mahmood.... So am I. Hemant da is the messiah 😊🙏

I often wondered how anyone can be immortal, the songs of hemant kumar, lata mangeshkar, muhammad rafi, mohindar kapoor, k l saigol, manna day, asha bhonslay, talat mehmood, shamshad begum, parkash kaur, surindar kaur, begum akhtar, zohra bai, barray ghulam ali khan, ameer khan, d v bload kar have cleared all of my doubts.

I just love his velvety voice.

Rest in Peace... Hemant Kumar Saab. Your music has worked wonders in this world.

Wow!! Never seen Hemant ji singing live! What a beautiful voice! Just bliss! Thank you sooo much!

He has a list of great music, after Lataji's passing away, I was looking at some old videos and one video led to other and now I bumped into some great hits of Hemantda so here I am, This guy is Amazing. so light to hear and so refreshing.

A big name in Indian music. Versatile and talented hemant da. I see many people in Bengal singing his tunes. He, himself being a singer and successful music director gave many hits for S D Burman da and other music directors. This is one of his iconic number close to my heart.

Great lyrics, amazing and soulful voice of Hemanth da, and simple music. I am listening to this song thousands of times and still soothing to my ears. It keeps my spirits up while recovering from a surgery. I enjoy singing this song too.
