@@someguy4046 you realise people who are against the current institution of the police force for the most part aren't advocating a free for all anarchy? If anything that goes against the point because they are trying to campaign for people's safety. They're saying that the current police institution is so fucked, with minimal training being given to officers who think they are the judge, jury, and executioner, deeply ingrained institutional racism, classism, and ableism, and corruption and poor practice causing obscene amounts of harm to communities.... It's better to just tear down that institution and start completely fresh or wildly reform it to have a nationalised safeguarding institution that doesn't regularly hurt, intimidate, and murder minorities. So basically you haven't thought this anti police movement through enough.

Nah...those aren't groundbreaking albums. You can bring the sales aspect but that's the only factor about 'em. Albums like this influenced multiple things in terms of Hip Hop for later years to come. MATW and MMLP might be subjective ''classics'' but not necessarily Hip Hop albums that again were really groundbreaking.

Hi Anthony, If reviewing classic albums is something you're going to be doing more often, I'd love to hear your thoughts on 2Pac's "Me Against the World". I personally think it's his magnum opus and by far his most mature album. The album itself may not have been as historically significant as Straight Outta Compton, but Pac was the most influential hip-hop artist of his era and ranks among all-time MCs, so I think it'd be great to give your thoughts on his best work. Thank you and keep up these classic reviews!

Can U please do a classic review of ODB's Return to the 36 Chambers, I feel its a pivotal album that challenged a lot of traditionalist views of what is considered good Hip Hop at the time from a not only a lyrical standpoint but in terms of vocal delivery and cadence. IMO this album also paved the way for a lot of today's most outlandish vocal styles such as Asap Ferg, Danny Brown, Young Thug, Meechie Darko and many more. Think about it Fandango.

Still and Important album in Rap music, and worth checking out just for the first half.

***** That's not true. Metal was WAY bigger in the 80's than hip hop ever was. In fact, hip-hop was more underground in the 80's than people realize. The stations were playing Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Aerosmith, AC/DC, etc. Hip-hop was far from mainstream in the 80's.

I bought the 20th Anniversary 2LP a couple months ago. I enjoyed it. In the end I just found myself listening to those classic "hits" on spotify (Straight Outta Compton, Express Yourself etc.). I put it on every now and then, but I think in our modern context there's other interesting stuff to be listening to that builds off of the foundations that this album created. Although they are two separate albums which I bought around the same time, I think I found "The Chronic" a more enjoyable listen because it has a bit more flow as an album. I also felt that it was a bit more light hearted at times and that I could have a laugh. Not that I don't like the grit of this album, but I like to laugh sometimes.
