    I know they know what they are doing, but the guy bending his head and face over the muzzle and loading the ball at 6:10, with a smoldering match in the foreground, gave me the heebie-jeebies.

    That was very cool Mark. Thanks for taking us along. How many lbs of powder is used in the mortars and the cannons in each shot? I assume also that the balls from the mortars are reusable. What about the projectiles out of the cannons do they go retrive them also?

  • @blackpowdermaniacshooter

    @blackpowdermaniacshooter

    I don't know how much powder those mortars use. I didn't ask that question. How silly of me! Yes, those round balls are reused. in the matches constantly. Some groups actually paint numbers and/or stripes on them. Regarding the cannon ones.....they are reused if they aren't deformed. They actually go dig the projectiles out of the hillside to shoot again. I didn't get to go out and film that part. I would have LOVED to do that! Thanks for watching..

    I'm currently in the midst of researching black powder artillery and mortars, but having some difficulties in finding any gunnery tables for BP mortars (ranges, acceptable accuracy, etc). Does anyone have some of that data, or could I get some historical accuracy data from some of the previous events?
